If the Flyers offer him the job and he turns it down, then nothing else they can do about that. - PLindbergh31
And you will know whether or not that is the case...how, exactly? |

How in the hell is Hakstol not involved in the firing? I hope the new GM reviews his tenure and brings in someone. - Buzzo
because they don't have their GM yet and they don't want an interim hiring a new coach. i get it. i think. |

I'd put him 8th on a list of forwards ranked by ES points over the past season and a quarter.
http://www.nhl.com/stats/...te,1&sort=evPoints,points - Feanor
You put him there based on ES , I dont put him there because the game isn't just played at ES.
It doesnt make a difference either way as I am glad Coots had the season he did lastr year, that he turned this around or got healthier and that he is our number 1 center.

What do you think the the number one in 1C refers to? It's the line that they play on at ES. I didn't even get into faceoffs or ES possession numbers. |

Jason Myrtetus is saying on twitter that Lombardi could be front runner and some assistants could be allocated to Lehigh.(Knoblauch).

Feanor and I are elves vs dwarves right now now over if Coots is a top 15 or top 8 center in the league.
Serious business.

Bingo. I had even said yesterday after the silence that this team has become irrelevant. Especially after the Phillies spend big money this offseason.
The business has suffered greatly. - StepfordSam
i'm a lifelong diehard. i had the opportunity a few weeks ago to spend an extra day on my weekend trip to phoenix to stay and watch the flyers monday night. i decided against it and drove home back to Albuquerque sunday instead of dropping $ on 4 tix and another night in the hotel. perhaps it's because i made a special trip to denver for game 2 and was supremely disappointed by what i saw. it's just not worth the time/money. that's what they've become. this is virtually unthinkable for me. but here we are. |

If this begins a new era of July 1 splashes and trading kids/picks for vets, then seriously F this team. - Tomahawk
I don't think there is any question that they could make moves to improve the team for now. For what though? Just to be a playoff team? Hanging a for sale sign on the door and telling everyone that they're open for business is not always the best way to go. Mandating that they improve now if how they got Bryzgalov and move Bobrovsky. Not looking to see a repeat of that.

For fun, I'll rank the top 20 centers by total scoring.
McDavid
MacKinnon
Malkin
Crosby
Tavares
Stamkos
Barzal
Kopitar
Kuznetzov
Seguin
Point
Backstrom
Barkov
Karlsson
Draisaitl
Couturier
EStaal
Eichel
Monahan
Aho
The point is, Stamkos has more points than Point, but Point is the 1C on Tampa. |

Didn't pay $35 million to JVR to finish last in the Metro
I'd be stunned if they were done. If it's true that Dave Scott wanted some things to change with the NHL product, they almost can't be done - AllInForFlyers

I think a move for a goalie is probably happening.
Only realistic trade options I see are Crawford or Dell.

I was offered tickets and a parking pass to the Devils game just a week or so ago. I turned it down.
They were playing the Devils and anyone with a brain knew how that game was going to play out.
This team has become so painful to watch, something had to give. |
