Eh, you mentioned teams that didn't make it. I understand what you're saying, but, read the room.

That said the timing of streaks is also important. The Devils won 25 of 27 or something ridiculous and still missed a handful of years ago, because they were in such a hole that they couldn't dig themselves out, and the same was true of that Flyers team IIRC.

In the NFL if you start 6-0 it's almost impossible to miss the playoffs, but the Bills could win 6 in a row and still be nowhere near a playoff spot.

Edit: Devils won 23 of 28 and had one OTL in there for good measure.

The point is that the goal this year was to push for/make the playoffs. That’s what we would probably need to do at this point. However, I think expectations need to be adjusted. If we finish in 8th then something will have clearly gone awry. Though injuries and such can always take their toll.
