Ok if Ghost is a third pairing d would you consider a trade ....
Ghost
Simmonds
To TO for
Nylander
Gardiner
I think when at his poorest Ghost should be sheltered, but he’s also had some good stretches where he plays pretty good in his own zone. - landros 2
I’ll stop you right there because I don’t want anything to do with Jake Gardiner and calling Ghost a third pair defender is unfair.
You can play Ghost anywhere on this defense because this defense stinks. |

Neuvirth stated the other day that he feels bad about what has happened and that he wished he had gotten healthy sooner! I'm wondering when he actually became healthy? - MJL
He should feel bad. His not staying healthy this year is the #1 reason Hexy got fired. |

Stay the hell away from Chuck.
The history with how he handled Minny is just too worrisome.
He may be better here, but he was a piss poor GM in his time there. Could never get over the hump himself, pretty bad drafting, bad coaching hires, quite a bad number trades to go along with utterly being destroyed with the expansion draft.
Please no. - flyer_nutter
The potential for one of his first hires sounds pretty good. Per Adrian Dater
If Philly hires Chuck Fletcher as GM, as reports say is strong possibility, I'd have to believe Coach Q would be his hire as coach. Q is very close to the Fletcher family. Got his coaching start thanks to Cliff hiring him way back when. |

I’ve seen that floated around too. Quenville would be nice.
Whoever the guys are, a big part of me is on the tank train. Trade out Simmonds. Call up Myers. Take the top 5 pick this year and really give yourself a chance as a new GM/coach to evaluate these guys. Big moves at the draft and the off season for next year.
That’s my preferred path anyway, if they want to trade for a goalie now - I’m cool with that.

They aren't going to go tank after firing Hextall for not trying to improve this team this year. |

I’ve heard Fletcher is advisor to the GM of the Devils currently. If he ends up in Philly, I wonder if he’d want to bring Cory Schneider here?
Would any of you take a chance on Schneider rebounding at this point? I’d bet Jersey would love to get rid of him. |

They weren't trying to tank at the beginning of the year either, how is that working out? |

I have a feeling it's because they know what they would be getting with him. They know his hits and his misses. With an assistant GM like Zito, they might be hesitant to step into the unknown at this point with the franchise (despite the high praise).

Theres no guarantee of that though, so they shouldn't bank on it. |

I doubt they will either. Although they’ve set themselves up for a top 5 pick by all accounts. I’d take that hands down over a sniff at making the playoffs this season. |

Intentional tank will not happen. Unintentional could totally happen with this (frank)ing team.

They just need to keep that pick. There is a real chance that you are drafting in a very good spot with a chance at Hughes. The target should still be long term upper echelon success over simply making the first round as a mediocre club, like our good friend Fletcher loved to do in Minny. |

I've seen intentional tanking back fire. Ask the Maple Leafs about that. |

The problem is you know they want to make moves to improve. They wouldn't have fired Hextall if they didn't want to improve this year. I don't see them staying where they are if they can help it. |
