That's what was said when he was 15/16. He is still 2 years away from his draft. I don't see generational, that doesn't mean he is bad, but I don't think he is better than Hughes.

It's still being said as of now. I don't think he's necessarily better than Hughes, yet at least, but I do think he's better than Nico/Nolan.

They aren't going to go tank after firing Hextall for not trying to improve this team this year.
- dragonoffrost

Unless one of the ways to improve is by rebuilding this thing from the ground up. I know it doesn't help this year, but long term pains might bring long term gains.

Fair enough.

Regarding our points above, and the more I’ve had some time to realistically think about it - I really am in favour of accepting this season as sunk. I’d much rather sell off some pieces, give the kids a shot and take that top 5 pick. I have no issue bringing in a goalie, or players who are younger themselves and contribute to the future for many years.

It’s just we are already in December. Let’s be realistic about this team’s cup chances at where they stand. We aren’t one or two pieces away here. If Dave Scott and Homer want changes, I’m okay with that. Just not scrambling to make the first round by making deals at this point of the season.

I think they are going to scramble a bit, but we shall see of course.

It's not like Nico and Nolan are trash...these are top young prospects.

I absolutely hate, sorry hate is strong....DESPISE the Hunter brothers. It's like hiring Tomas Sandstrom as the new GM. Ok Mark is not Dale, but the whole Hunter crew can suck it. They are giant Dbags...all of them.

So, is it Frost, Hart, Myers, and Farabee for Quick? Or just 3 of the 4?

I’m with you I’d like to see Zito or Hunter come in homer said fresh eyes and those two would be fresh and up and coming perfect for today’s nhl game.
- Duane B

Couldn't agree more. Fletcher is old eyes. I wonder if Hatcher would take an asst GM position. If they turn this team around that is a quite a feather to have in his cap going forward.
We have the talent. Someone is going to come in and look like a wizard with this team... and they will be and I support it as long as the moves make sense

No. It is clear from press conference they have no intention of rebuilding. It is get better now and win now.

Project to play opposite sides, and one is a LH shot and the other a RH. Probably wouldn't want both on the same line, but not redundant as I see it.

Who would be the guy who keeps in touch with drafted but unsigned prospects like Allison now that Pryor is gone?

ISnt he the one who signed Suter and Parise?

Why ? If he’s your best option, I guess what choice do you have ? What did he do wrong ? He’s injury prone.
- landros 2

Yeah, I don't know why people are so vituperative towards Neuvirth because his body has broken down. It's not like there's any reason to think he's been lazy, or has been skiing or riding motorbikes.

I know you didn't, but I still look at Nico and Nolan as potential star players. I see Lafreniere more of a Daigle type, remember Daigle was a seriously hyped player, but that doesn't mean Lafreniere career will be the same.

I’m not very bright and then you go on to use the word “Dominated”. Normally when a defensive pair “dominates”, they stay together a very long time and builds a resume of success.
- SuperSchennBros

They dominated last season. Hak broke them up to play a 3rd pairing talent in Hagg on the 1st pairing. Because he's a terrible coach.

Why would anyone trust your judgement of dmen? You thought LSchenn was worth keeping over Gudas. Which one's in the AHL?

2018 and you're analyzing players using plus minus. But only certain players, of course. Not your boy Wayne Simmonds.

At least you got one thing right.

I’m not very bright

Not really what I am advocating for. The way I would phrase it would be kind of like the blitz to contention we saw when Holmgren initially took over. Getting Biron, dealing Forsberg, and then going out to really improve for next year.

Just time it right. I dont think the middle of this season is the right time.

I'd be okay with Fletcher as long as it was a package deal to get Q. Fletcher is experienced and has built relationships with every team. Would really like to see some new blood from the outside. not a retread. We are not in the interview room but I hope everyone mentioned gets a fair shake.

One way to look at all the bad trades Fletcher made... those teams owe him one now:-) If you think teams are licking their chops now that Homer has the reins for a few days... just wait...

I know people are judging Fletcher 100% on his trades, but most, including myself, consider Yzerman as a pretty good GM. Now let's look at his moves...

It's only 3 of the 4 because Flyers have to take Dustin Brown as well.

Keep an eye out; With our current prospect depth, does it hurt that much to lose a 1st round pick in 2019 or 2020? Of course, if we finish in bottom 5 maybe, but with Howard and a healthy Elliott??? Still early in season to make run at playoffs. Metro still in flux.

JIMMY HOWARD, Detroit Red Wings
Age: 34
Stats: 17 starts, 7-6-3, .922 SV%, 2.68 GAA
Contract: Pending UFA, $5.3 million cap hit
Scoop: Howard is single-handedly standing in the way of a complete Red Wings rebuild. He has pulled the Detroit out of the Eastern Conference basement with a 5-1-1 mark and .931 save percentage in November. Their record could be even better, as the Wings lost four games in October when Howard only allowed two goals against. GM Ken Holland tried to move Howard two years ago, but the term on his contract made him a difficult sell. Now Holland is believed to be holding out in an attempt to get a first-round pick in return, a price he may well fetch between now and the Feb. 25 deadline.

You don't think it's the right time but by the firing of Hextall and the wording in the Holmgren/Scott presser. I hate to say it. There will be moves for a make the playoffs this season mode.
