How is that throwing him away? Otherwise Hextall is 100% correct and everyone above him should be lynched. If there is nothing else there then doing nothing is the only option. - Glak18
It's all moot anyway bc DET isn't in a position to make that deal.
They're gonna resign Howard. |

Hi, this is the new GM of the Flyers. I need you to take my expiring contracts, underachieving healthy scratches, and a future 6th round draft pick for your best players... |

I don't see Howard signing, until that happens. |

What else are they gonna do? Take a chance on a UFA? No kids on the way, and Bernier is playing like poop |

So that means Elliott is going to re-sign? What are they going to do run with Lyon and Stollie?
Plus he is old, why would they re-sign old guy? |

All I want is a GM who will make this team good while doing nothing. That is not too much to ask for. |

Yes, our "trash" wing who has put up 80+ points in 2 of the last 4 seasons and is still under 30. |

They're gonna end up giving Bob or Varly a billion dollar contract. |

Reading the article, it seems like Hextall figured he had a decade to turn this franchise around. Total lack of awareness. Being Hextall played in Philadelphia for majority of his career, you'd think he would understand the pressure to win.
I must say I admire him being true to himself, and what his vision was. Something to be said for not going against your beliefs strictly to hold on to a job. At least Hextall wasn't a puppet. - PLindbergh31
His vision must have been blury since you support him. Top of the iceberg the goalie situation. Scheen deal look bad in the short and long run right now. Franchise worst special teams stats without doing nothing. .........................next page |

I don't believe that Howard would cost that much to acquire. - MJL
I agree. Not ready to give up on Rubtsov yet, at least not in a deal to acquire Howard. |

We will find out what Rubstov is in about 3 years, during that time any of Couturier, Patrick, Laughton, Frost, Vorobyov and O'Brien could be traded for him to bump up. |

I’m not saying he couldn’t be had in the right deal, just not for Howard. |

Not many guys out there, the good ones aren't getting traded and the backups who are not proven as a starter should be avoided by the Flyers. That only leaves the guys no one wants, the same guys we already have and the guys who have played well, but have a risk with them.
So it's basically hope and wait for Hart. |

Haven't had time to backread everything, but I saw a lot of debate about trading Rubtsov. Can players on the IR be traded? |

Yes, but most teams don't normally do it. Flyers could wait until next year before he is injured again.
Also the debate is mostly about how overvalued Rubstov is now. |

The debate is about the trade you proposed and how it's an over payment for Howard. Saying it's about Rubtsov being overvalued is your singular side of it and spin on it.

No, you keep saying over payment, which means the value of Rubstov is greater than Howard and a 2nd round pick. Not sure how maybe, just maybe a top 200 NHL prospect is worth so much. |

Thanks, I didn't realize injured players could be traded.
I wasn't feeling good about what I'd heard about him prior to this season, but hard to want to be down on him when he was scoring over a point a game in the AHL before he went down this season. Its a shame he had such a major injury |
