I think the leafs are hoping to get both signed for 20 - 21 million combined. 12 - 13 for Matthews 8-9 for Marner.
I think they'll have a hard time doing it. They are probably looking more like 22-24 million for both.
Maybe the leafs sign then only to 6 year deals to keep the AAV down a bit, and worry about the future later. A lot could happen it 6 years. With that said, they'll find a way to get them signed. - VT001
Yeah, and if he continued to play it's also entirely possible he'd have made the progress. Maybe even more quickly. Hence, "shame we'll never know". - Wetbandit1
Maybe?
But he certainly didn’t look to be taking steps forward while playing
Looked a bit overwhelmed
And was playing a lot of “backyard QBing” if u know what i mean?
Bottom line...
he’s still gonna need lots of time before we have an idea if he’s gonna be a stud for us or not
Again,
I don’t think that should be a controversial statement
Huh?
He sat while injured & definitely looks like he took a step forward
All I’ve ever said is that the more time he has to learn off the field,
the more it’ll help him when he’s out there
I feel that point has been proven true over the last 2 games
He’s making reads down the field,
and getting the ball out in time
Not on every play,
but much more often
Still has work to do
But it’s been an encouraging step forward - jdfitz77
I think he got overwhelmed once teams got some tape and game planned him. He definitely is a really good "broken play" quarterback, and needs more time on and off the field (so well into next season at least) to learn to become a dangerous pocket passer. That will come as he learns protection adjustments and blitz recognition...and (cringe) figures out a way to be a little more accurate. Dude is definitely fiery, and a gamer, and wants to be good.

No, the controversial statement was saying that he shouldn't be playing when the only other QB we had was the worst "starting" QB in NFL history.
Just got back from the game. Very annoying the amount of Leafs fans there. Seemed like more than usual... Had the unfortunate honor of sitting in front of this witch of a woman and her sleazy husband/date? She had a voice like nails on a chalkboard and was making fun of me for showing interest in the game and being loud. Her moronic partner made the dumbest comment ever "The Sabres are scoring fluke goals, Leafs score playoff goals." As 2/3 Leafs goals were scored off of a fortunate bounce...
Beside that fact, we really need to get better forward and defensive depth on this team. Toronto was rolling 3 lines and the Taveres and Matthews lines were just dominate all night. We skate back in fear often, letting them dance into our zone with the puck. It was very annoying. Top line played great but 2nd line with the exception of Sheary was invisible yet again. Okposo and Mittelstadt need to start producing more consistently. I know Casey is young but the 2nd line center needs to get points every other game at least. If he can't do it then bring someone in who can.
Thompson had a rough game and the 3rd line is just an offensive joke. Rodrgiues, Berglund, Girgensons and Larsson all had quality chances to score today. They just don't have the offensive ability. I don't know what were going to do with Sobotka either... We really only need 2/5 of these guys on the team.
Defense is another story. I thought we were mostly good tonight on D but Bogosian was a liability at times as well as Beauleiu on the 1st goal. - bluengold12
I throw big handfuls of popcorn at azzhole Leaf fans that say stupid shiot like that... and i have been known to "inadvertently" spill beer on these douchebags
F the Leaves thrice !

Yeah
That’s what i mean by “backyard QBing”
If he can catch up mentally with how athletic he is,
then he could become a really great QB
His raw skills are off the charts
And he’s a much better runner than i thought

I still don’t think that was all that crazy
I cared what was best for Allen’s development
If that meant we went 0-10, then fine
Because i care a lot more about the
next 10 YEARS
*this season was destined to be rough bc of the lack of Cap Space to address the offense

What they should do is separate the sides like in soccer. Not to keep the physically apart to prevent riots. But chanting back and forth, and not having to listen to inane bullpoop from a fan of the other team.

where do they separate sides in soccer ? Not at MLS games here in the states. maybe in Spain, Argentina or Brazil ?
Tickets for Leafs game should be non-transferable. Penalty should be revocation of ur season ticket. - feetontheair22
Its the ticket holders fault that when they cant go to the game and other Sabres fans don't buy their tickets? I got 100 level seats an hour before the game for $50 a pop, so the "TOR game tickets are too much" is bullpoop.
