Entertaining game last night guys. Looking forward to a lot more of that in the next few years. - Matthews_Auston
It’s nice that both clubs are getting their poop together eh? It will make for a great rivalry for sure

For sure! It is going to be a fun ride! Matthews is the best goal scorer in the league. And besides Laine.... it isn't close. |

It was, but after that goal he looked good all game. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Ristolainen was absolutely huge, and I’m glad it came on national TV. He takes so much poop but I think he’s one of those rare guys that plays his best when everything is on the line. |

Deep teams who plan on making a run at the cup for sure. It’s a long, grueling path to the cup and those teams need the depth for sure. I can name 10 team in the last 10 years who lost the cup because they had to injury protection ie depth - lulags
Berglund has the 156th highest AAV in the league
Sobodka has the 168th
They are barely making money.
Both get paid less actual dollars than their AAV in the coming years as well. |

I don't mind THIS years bowl-u. Last years bowl-u..Poopity for sure. Funny how adding one more extremely competent D-man make the rest of the D-corp that much better. - hehateme
Beaulieu was on the ice for 2 leaf goals. He’s been better this season no doubt but last night was not his best game. |

McDavid is an offensive specimen. Matthews is a better goal scorer IMO. |

The thing most people don’t seem to grasp when begging for offer sheets is the player/agent has to sign the damn thing for it to even exist.
Why would Matthews want to play in AZ over a cup contender? - sbroads24
I guess we don't know what he wants to do, only him and his agent know that.
I think it likely he would prefer to stay on a team with a young core that has a chance to contend over the course of his next contract.
After that, as a UFA, is when I would be more concerned, especially if Toronto wins a cup OR if AZ has a great up and coming young team... at that point, the Tavares scenario becomes possible.
It is not like the Leafs are going to lowball him. He is going to get paid, I would guess as much or more than McDavid (and no I am not suggesting he is as good as McDavid)

Chiarelli is ripe for the picking. Buffalo has D man depth, picks and prospects.
GMJB - GET NUGE NOW ! - Pairo11
I know that Buffalo and Edmonton have had talks for Nuge in the past. There was a rumour of Kane being part of the package going to Edmonton but that fizzled. |

Nah.
McDavid is better, he just plays for the worst team in history and on the west coast.
After all of those terrible finishes and drafted talent they have nothing to show for it because they wont fire their awful GM who still thinks Lucic is a first line forward. |

How sad is it that after all the suck that Edmonton has had there are only 4 players on that team I would want. |

He should have been watching the puck but that was a great play by a great player too.
(frank)ing Matthews is REALLY talented. This just in.... - Pairo11
It was right in front of me, definitely a nice play by Mathews. He's fun to watch.
The blow u - bogo duo had a similar view.
They just stood there after it went in.... |

All the dude does is score. - ImThatGuy
Maybe we offer berglund, scandella, Nelson and sobotka for
Kessel , malkin and their 2nd round pick? |

Yeap exactly what i said.
Amazing how people just cant read here.
Beglund for a 2/3rd rd pick at the deadline with salary held is the same thing as Berglund for Malkin.
I hate America, and how dumb we have become. |

Berglund is a value to team, vet presence, 3rd line checking forward that.
Still holds respect around the league.
I think you just hate to hate on these guys, but they still have value.
Scandella is a vet presence on the backend, tad overpaid, but has value.
Again, I am not asking/Expecting for first round picks, which by the way Ryan Reeves was traded for.
a team that needs "Checking bodies" at the deadline could have interest, especially if Buffalo Holds Salary. - ImThatGuy
Why would the Sabres trade a respected 3rd line checking forward? Unless his game has completely fallen off.
Generally when we want to trade a guy away, they are playing below expectations.
Other GMs watch are games. I think it's called scouting?
They scout and see what you're seeing. A slow, old overpaid dude that's been a healthy scratch on the 31st overall team from last year. |

He was also on the ice (and a big part of) one of our goals. He's fine in a 3rd pair role. The amount of depth we seem to have all of a sudden on the blueline is kind of crazy compared to where it was.
Pilut so far has made a case for why he shouldn't be in Rochester (it's only been 3 games, so that could change) but after last night, he's certainly going to make it hard for them to send him back.
Anyone know how long we're expecting Scandella and McCabe out for? I dont' expect to hear anything on Nelson quite yet since he just went down yesterday. |

I agree though with sobotka and scandella.
They could be valuable guys at the trade deadline , teams always try and upgrade.
