Toronto Boston getting really ugly.... Boston up 6-2.... Two different fights last min.
Hyman LATE hit on McAvoy.... Should be suspended a couple games. - gordong
May well be...then Wagner ran at Reilly with a predatory hit. Old time hockey...I hate the Bruins. |

Yes
Shooter = finisher is kinda what I meant.
They are different. Maybe a "non passer" or shoot first mentality.
Ultimate finisher would be patrick laine.
Sam is not even close.
If anything, Sam's a playmaker right?
Again, I'm not trying to criticize sam, he's been a big part of the winning.
I just think we can find a shoot first type guy, and use Sam's playmaking on a different line.
Jack makes everyone look good. - Boss34
It's semantics. When I think finisher, I think of someone who cashes in loose pucks right out front like Dave Andreychuk. A shooter is like Ovechkin, Laine, Matthews. |

It'd be great if our 5th year veteran 2OA pick could establish himself as a decent 2C without riding the coattails of Eichel to produce.
Reinhart can't be on the 1st line. Put Thompson on the 1st line for a change; put Samantha on the 2nd... maybe he can help the players around him someday.
Step up or Step off.

Well, JBotts waited the entire year last season to see what he had and what he needed to do.
During the offseason, he did well in re-shaping tne team.
We all agree their remains work to be done.
During this Year of Transition, we have seen a team that has produced results at both ends of the spectrum...10 game winning streak, and now a 5 game losing streak....but their play hasn't been much different collectively...well yesterday they sucked. But the point was most were 1 goal games.
They can hang with the best, when their secondary and tertiary scoring shows up...when it doesn't they lose. So much better than last year, but also leaves us wanting for more...and securing a playoff round would pay huge dividends for the future of the young core guys.
I do NOT want JBotts to mortgage the future, and am comfortable leaving most of the young guns in Rochester to finish baking..no real need to rush things.
That said, I also believe there are a couple moves JBotts needs to work on
For the long-term:
-Berglund needs to go, much too high of a cap hit for his play. He is quickly becoming the new Moulson.
-Okposo, same as Berglund except cost way more and for much longer. I fear the only way to jettison him is to bribe Seattle during the Entry Draft...meaning they will have to suffer through it til then. Can JBotts figure out a different way?
At the Trade Deadline:
JBotts should be both Buyer and Seller...
-can he do Pommer a solid and get him to a bonifide SC contender...for say that coveted 6th rounder? That frees-up a spot for one of the younger guys to slide in and get their NHL experience.
-unload Scandella and Hunwick for what he can to free-up cap space for next season.
- find one of
- a RW finisher for Jack & Skinner
- top 4 RH Dman
Keep the 4 1st round draft picks over the next 2 years and stock the cupboard.
Be the antiMurray! |

Good morning, my Buffalo buddies.
Sorry if this has already been discussed. Weird little tidbit at the bottom of an article from the Athletic on Friday called How the next generation of arenas will flip the script, bringing the outside in and the inside out.
"Buffalo’s also in the market for a convention center, which could be tied to a new downtown football stadium.
“It’s all on the table,” Popko said.
Though it seems unimaginable, Buffalo could construct just one building for a hockey arena, football stadium and convention center. The building would transform itself from a sprawling 60,000-seat stadium to a more intimate 20,000-seat arena in a matter of hours. Instead of having two facilities that sit empty most days, the city would have one multipurpose, high-tech marvel that would attract concerts and retail opportunities to go with the games.
“It definitely can be done,” Singaby said. “We’ve studied and explored many design solutions that combine the stadium size with the arena size, and we are very excited about the potential.”
He pointed to Pierre Mauroy Stadium in France. It’s a 50,000-seat soccer stadium with a retractable roof and dual-level floor. The grass field sits on hydraulic lifts, which raise and move the playing surface to reveal a subfloor that is used for everything from tennis to hockey to motocross.
As the grass field is hauled away, a huge curtain narrows the building’s appearance, and tier-level seats are brought in to flank the rink or court." |

I read that article too, by our own John Vogle.
Very interesting.
It would be one hell of an undertaking.
I don't think Buffalo can garner the necessary support of the State, County and City governments for what could be a $1.5-$2.0B (my guess only) cost to build such a structure...especially since many studies show the investment doesn't drive additional development, which is often cited as one reason to make such a large investment.
Would be cool though. |

The pegula's and pse are one of the few ownership groups that could make this a reality.
They own both teams and would profit greatly.
A combo stadium is a realistic possibility in my opinion

I agree with this aspect...
Largely because traditionally ownership groups fund a fraction of the necessary investment, then negotiate a sweet deal in which they control all, or the vast majority of revenue.
Is that what you would want to sign-up for in an alreadyheavily taxed area that contributes to an underachieving economy with a contunually aging populous?

I'm the wrong guy to ask.
I have season tickets to both the Bill's and Sabres.
Why wouldn't I want I new awesome dual purpose stadium?
Its kinda like the new rink tonawanda wants to build.
If you do not skate or have kids/grandkids that play hockey? Why would vote yes?
If you have 3 kids that play hockey, you vote yes? |

Yah , only in buffalo do people expect more out of the 22 year old captain with 36 points in 30 games.
Guy's 8th in the nhl in scoring
You suck too
*Sam's 63rd in scoring in the nhl
Very impressive, considering the slow start |

Fair enough.
From my perspective, I would think an owner worth $4B could pony-up the majority if they will profit...and lessen the burden on the tax-payers ... then hike the prices of tickets to properly charge those who see the value...such as you.
Just my thoughts on what traditionally has been the model... to early to tell if the Pegula's will be outside that model.
Let's hope so. |

Those are both great points.
It really doesn't matter how rich a person is. Human instinct and business sense makes the pegula's want to spend other people's (tax) money.
The revenue from a building of this magnitude will definitely offset some of the costs.
Imagine the construction jobs? Income tax
Imagine the revenue of the surrounding businesses?
This would be good for buffalo.
And I completely agree that the tickets should go up in price. The people that enjoy the facilities should pay more.

Why is overall points an excuse for bad plays? Sure rienhart has really upped his play from the start of the season, does this mean he can’t be called out for making bad plays or having a bad game?
Does criticism automatically mean you hate the guy and wish he was traded for a 6th round pick?
I want 23 to succeed on this team as much as anyone, but that pass on the pp was terrible, regardless of how many points he has over x number of games, you could also say that shg really killed the team and led to the third period blowout. |
