Oh, I have plenty of legitimate reasons. I just like prodding at people who make excuses for him. If he wants to challenge the win record in the same was he’s obliterated the loss record, he just needs to average 50 wins per season for the next 12 years

Paul is a big boy, he can handle the criticism. It's me who needs to look deeper to understand how he earned the losses record:
1. he started his NHL career at age 26 for a franchise is disarray
2. he coached most of those games with a low budget team in a pre-cap era
3. The Toronto team personal was a joke
4. Before Bucky the best goalie he had was near 40 year old Tom Barasso and Arturs Irbe and a struggling Cam Ward
5. Round two in Carolina was a rebuild that claimed a few coaches
On the other hand lets look for other evidence of the hand he was dealt being tilted
1. He took a terrible Carolina team to the cup final
2. It is difficult to find even a single player who played better for another coach than they did for Maurice.
3. He garnered some Jack Adams consideration for his work with the 08-09 Hurricanes and got that team to the playoffs after joining them mid-season
Scotty Bowman is not the standard to decide whether a coach is a good coach or not, his record is more about the GOAT conversations - bear in mind that he was let go 3 times and coached legendary teams loaded with hall of famers. (Montreal, Pittsburg and Detroit). He was a great coach and undoubtedly part of the success of those teams.
