It's crazy. The Pens are now tied for 3rd in the metro, but are still closer to the bottom half of the league than the top half.

Looking at teams like Tampa and Toronto, the Pens are going to need to add more than one more quality forward IMO.

Getting Horny back will help. Scary to see how much losing 2 wingers hurts us.

RIP Sid and Phil first line.

That was one of Jakes best games all season. That kid takes a beating and keeps coming.

He really does.

I was thinking that Rust takes some of the worst abuse I've ever seen. Dude gets hit square constantly. Jake and bake isn't far behind.

Losing two wingers is significant on any team.

I could see Phil going back with Sid when Hornqvist comes back. I think bumping Phil down was more to do with upgrading Geno's line because Sheahan wasn't cutting it.

Seriously... I want to know if Letang had brass knuckles in glove. He barely took a swing at Clusterfuk and he crumpled.

Maybe like northern Saskatchewan. I hate sand and heat. Couldn’t watch the game, how did everyone’s favorite piss ant do?

Color me impressed so far. Outside of getting caught flat-footed once or twice he's been very steady and has actually been a positive influence on JJ.

I have to give credit where credit is due. The Islanders actually became a better team without JT in the lineup.

Last night's game was so sloppy with that terrible ice and not having Horn and Simon in the lineup definitely hurts this team, but the Pens played well despite some gnarly mistakes.

DeSmith IMO is really starting to make a case for himself. He's been quite impressive and while he still has a long road, I feel better about him.

That pairing is doing a lot better than Maattaa and Oleksiak. Petterson is one of our six best defenders right now, which I didn't think would be the case.

I think its time to draw Riikola back in, but not for Petterson. I'd say Oleksiak.

Agreed 100%

Oleksiak needs to check himself. He seems to think he's Justin Schultz and he's not. He needs to focus more on defense more than jumping into the play.

The Pens love Oleksiak though. He's their little reclamation project.

Well Jack Johnson is their BIG reclamation project. They need to figure out which one they love more and jet the other one the hell out of town. We can't have this much loyalty to two overpaid bottom pairing defensemen.

Clutterbuck has to faking right? He barely hit him.
- madmike71

I was at the game and just prior to the "hit" Letang laid on him he was beyond gassed, everyone was saying it looked like he was going to collapse. To be honest I didn't even see what transpired prior to the scrum after the fact, was watching Hickey get attended to.

Sadly, I still think when Schultz comes back and the chips are on the table it will be Maatta leaving this team.

I think Maatta is gone too, but we have so many defensemen at this point, we still need to get rid of one more this offseason probably. The cap implications of carrying eight defensemen is bad.

I will say this after watching DeSmith live last night I was impressed. Similarly with Pettersson, who looked fairly comfortable and poised.

JJ does generally look lost though, the people I was at the game with agreed.

I'm losing patience with ZAR, man Simon and Horny can't get back soon enough. Also was noticing Pearson everywhere last night, he's certainly not Horny but he was giving that game everything he had.

I have to say as no-frills as the arena is, it's LOUD. Significantly moreso than Brooklyn. There is at least a home-ice advantage for them there.

My patience for ZAR is gone. It was a low-risk/high reward signing, but he's not an NHL player. When everyone is back I would much rather Dea in the lineup at this point than ZAR. He really brings nothing to the table.
