#StLBlues put goaltender Chad Johnson on waivers. - Stripes77
Wait a minute...
The guy who said the Sabres would have to prove something to him in order for him to resign...was just released by one of the worst teams in the league?
Glad he didn't see enough talent to stay here. |

But don't blame the player... Blame the GM for not picking Nylander or Leon D, or Ehlers - hehateme
It’s partly the players fault and the scouting in this case if we knew he couldn’t play center at the next level he most likely would have never been the pick
But the scouting really dropped the ball with players in the draft imo

But there really should not be any negativity towards this team everyone should be proud of what they have accomplished so far |

has Sam really been any different from the get go? NOPE... he is who he is, 50-60 points a year...Maybe he will sprinkle in the odd 70pt season, if we can get him on the cheap I have ZERO issues with that...

I really don’t think he’s going to be here in the future maybe at the draft he will be moved but it seems this team is heading in a different Direction imo
Will see what happens but I’m Excited for the future |

I am so sick of this statement. If Sam was a 3rd round pick he would be getting praised for the point totals he has, but because he was picked 2nd over all he is a bum... - hehateme
He'll never live it down.
Probably a 60pt player but apparently that isn't "an impact" for all the naysayers.
Is he the best 2nd overall ever? No way. Is he a top10 talent from that draft and an impactful player on this team...yes.
Those that want to female dog about draft position are simply negative people that want a scapegoat to hang the losses on. Reinhart is one of the only people scoring other than Eichel in this slump, yet he's the one picked out of the pile.
Typical. |

Unless you are a can't miss prospect, Eichel, McJesus, ETC... Draft order don't mean Sh!t.. I am sick of people pooping on players because of draft position or the money they make. They don't draft themselves or sign themselves to contracts, GM's and agents do.

Um,
The top 3 in the NHL draft are supposed to be difference makers.
Draft position absolutely means something. |

I put a little onus on the player to perform to the contract they sign. Moulson, for example, he came out of shape to camp, given his pay I find that he shares the blame there.
You're right though, draft order is in the sole control of the drafting team. Hate GMTM, not Reinhart. |

Maybe this makes sense:
If the 3rd player picked is the 4th best player, is it the fault of the 4th best player, or the team that picked 3rd?
I am not blaming anyone for saying that there were better players to be had at #2. At the same point, I think to say Samson is a better or worse player because he was drafted in that position is asinine. Fair? |

The thing is Sheary and Pominville can also give you those kind of statistics on Eichel’s wing. If Skinner and Reinhart were so good then put them on the 2nd line and they should be able to keep that stat line up while kick starting Mittelstadt. - Pegullaville
It’s so tough to break up Eichel & Skinner right now though
But to your point,
we aren’t gonna consistently beat good teams with just 1 line going
Even if it hurts the production of Skinner & Reinhart temporarily...
it might be what’s best for the team overall
And it could get Mittelstadt going too
One other thing to consider though
We are still trying to sign Skinner
Obviously, he’s pretty happy with the way things are
If switching him away from Jack doesn’t work, does that alienate him somewhat?
Could doing that play a factor in his thinking whether or not to stay here?

the key word here is SUPPOSE to be. you are hedging your bets on 18 year old kids. There are plenty of players drafted high that were mediocre at best. |

it’s the player not living up to expectations a team is trusting you to lead their franchise after they had a terrible season and the reward is using that one pick to Restore the franchise

To also be fair to him, he’s not making that much cash. If he got a contract like Leon did then yes everyone should pile on him.
I think the issue some people have with him is he doesn’t drive play. He’s kind of a sidekick to our best players ( moulson/okposo in NY)
Next contract I’ll give him a little raise. If he wants more he better he anchoring a different line himself or bye

Sam Reinhart is basically Bobby Ryan but cheaper
2nd overall pick just that is a 50-65 point player that will put up 70 once or twice
Difference is Sam is a lot cheaper
Nothing wrong with that...or you know you could trade him to a team that needs to blow it up...like St Louis...
Reinhart STL 1st and a prospect (Nylander) for say Tarasenko? |

I like your proposal but that first round pick should be a no go with the player that’s coming out next year the level of a Connor McDavid you can’t give that up imo

Do you really think they would move Tarasenko and not insist on getting their 1st back?

Then we keep their pick. That simple.
Also, don't trade any of the first round picks, keep building this thing up and keep putting players in the pipeline. |
