The goalie situation coming into the year was a fireable offense. Hexy put his marbles in new offseason training programs that both goalies took part in. It backfired horribly but predictably and now Hexy is unemployed

Hexy also seemed to unjustifiably have Lyon higher up the pecking order than Stolarz which muddied the waters even further. If that was the case and he was never set on giving stolarz, not a draft pick of his, another legitimate look....then it’s happy travels hex

- Just5

How can you possibly know. Stolarz was coming off missing a year, so of course, Lyon was higher going into this season.

I had Lyon higher than Stolarz as well because of the missed year. Just like I have Morin much lower than other defenseman on the Phantoms...that's pretty normal.

Exactly. We won't know where Morin falls into place until he's played a number of games. It won't be this year for sure.

Jonathan quick has given up 3 goals tonight and is a 3.23 GA, .893 save pct this season

From Ek “I keep hearing the flyers are VERY interested and I could see this deal happening sooner than later”.

all LA-Flyers front office connections are gone, yes? might make things a little trickier, but i just can't see the kings dumping him unless it was stupid deal going the other way, and i have a hard time seeing that happen.

Lyon never looked like a viable NHL option to me. Stolarz, while coming off an injury was over a year removed from the meniscus tear and had a full summer of training, not rehab. He only made it into 3 phantoms games prior to his recall. I’m not saying he’s some savior but hextall needed to get him more work down there.

Ben Simmons 2 for 9 from the stripe tonight. Free throw percentage plummeting. Jenner escapades skyrocketing

Are you trolling? Simmons has been great lately. Very efficient.

I've been wanting to see more of Stolarz since he got a few games in 2016-17. But I get why he was the buried in the depth chart going into this season.

I'd rather Fletcher focus on a top 9 forward good on the PK.

The answer, to me, isn't doing nothing while Rome burns. That is an answer, not THE answer, and if you have unlimited time, you might get away with it, but I say this all the time: You can have a plan that everybody agrees with but it only takes one person above you to stop agreeing with your plan. In professional sports, you leave your back door open when you do nothing because your plan said so -- Sam Hinkie should be the poster child for that.

Regression is unacceptable -- hell, I said in, what, September or whenever Mr. Glass got hurt AGAIN, that it's almost impossible to evaluate your team when you're constantly behind, fishing the puck out of your net, giving up goals that maybe you shouldn't. It was imperative that this team not give up soft goals when their defense was going to be relatively young, you had young forwards as well.

It's not Hextall's fault that some of the young players haven't played as well -- I'm not a Hextall hater. He can't do everything. The players need to play, the coaches need to coach

But as the general manager, there's stuff you could have done, and he didn't. Right, wrong, whatever, the bottom line is he didn't

It’s hard to argue with the firing of Hextall when your signings include Dale Weise, Michael Del Zotto, Brian Elliott and Michael Neuvirth. Nolan Patrick, Ivan Provorov, Travis Konecny and Travis Sanheim are great picks but as they develop them and you sign scrubs, what kind of message are you sending to upper management. The only reason I don’t include JvR is because we need more of a sample size and at least the guy has an impressive resume. We needed a JvR.

With this said, Fletch, don’t ruin the great position you are in by trading for Johnathon Quick. Let the UFAs come off the books and go on a shopping spree.

I have no issue with the Elliot signing . While Weise is playing fine this year overall no thanks on the other 3 outside of Elliot.
The problem is Hexy thinking Elliot could play 65-70 games a year .

They were a playoff team last season. 2 main additions to the line up, JVR and Sanheim, 2 subtractions, Flip and Manning

Are you telling me that Val Filpula was that important to the team last season? Manning?

Hextall was thrown under the bus cause The Flyers are now seen as a line item on Comcast's P&L Statement.

3 Months ago everyone was down with Hextall's plan. The biggest gripe going into the season was the coach.

- corduroy

No, Hextall was fired because the team svcks and he wasn’t attempting to fix it to a degree that satisfied his employer.
