As we speak, he's trying to dig up Jagr's corpse so he can play on Matthews' wing.

Shouldn’t be too hard. He just has to roll over in his bed to find him.

I wouldn't call Wedgie "plenty of Leaf fans" but he does love him some Komarov.

John Chayka said G Antti Raanta had a procedure on his injury and the damage was more extensive than originally thought. Possible he could miss the rest of the season. Right now, listing him as out indefinitely.

Sadly, I don't think the Coyotes have any meat we want to pick off their carcass.

When did he say this? Didn't he get a major suspension for trying to chop a guys head off at the end of last season?

Checked: early last season and got 10 games for it. But also found this;

- markmark

"I was being penalized a lot," he said Thursday morning, hours before the Flyers rallied from a two-goal third-period deficit to beat the Arizona Coyotes in overtime, 5-4. "And with our [penalty kill] not being the greatest, it goes hand-in-hand."

So over the summer, Gudas sat in front of his computer and watched clip after clip of himself on the ice, searching for two disparate things: moments when he had gone too far, and moments when — out of concern that he'd commit a penalty — he had not gone far enough. It was on him, he said, to re-teach himself when to crunch bones and when to back off.
He was asked if he had learned how to do that, and he turned around, bent down, and knocked his right fist against the wooden bench in the Flyers' dressing room.

"So far, yeah," he said. "I think I've done a better job than I did in the past, yes."
So far, he's right. So far, Gudas has managed to find a balance between the player he once was and the player he now has to be. Through his first 14 games, he is a plus-5 and has racked up just 10 penalty minutes. He's still averaging 2.2 hits a game, down just slightly from last season (2.4), and Hakstol has rewarded him by increasing his average ice time by more than half a minute each game.
"You go through a couple of suspensions, and that's really the only choice for him, is to adjust just a little bit," Hakstol said. "Right there, the critical part is just making a small adjustment and not changing his game, because what he brings is very valuable. The physical edge that he brings is very important to our team, and … the largest area of growth in his game this year has been his efficiency with the puck, his consistency with the puck. The combination of those two things has made him a real effective player for us."

That from this Summer? He can have some benefit of the doubt if he get's through 18-19 relatively clean but I wouldn't say he's there yet.

Anyway, he still isn't good enough to warrant being a trade target.

moving on to a new topic. TB is really starting to pull away. they are so (frank)ing good.
Having to get by them is going to be a task, unless they get upset by someone.

i am not sure trading for some help at the deadline would be enough if they end up meeting in the playoffs

The fact they're doing it with VEZINAsky is impressive for sure.

Once he's back, they have no weaknesses.

1 good defenceman and leafs will be set. They will be a good matchup for Tb, could go either way but I don’t view either team as a run a way.

Even adding a D, i dont see it.

The Leafs are not even a strong possession team. they are hovering around 50%, somewhere in the middle of the League.

Thats offset by the chances they generate. the GF% is leading atm.

but still i am not convinced one or 2 additions would make the difference

I'm just going to say that Gudas is a poor man's Polak.
I kinda like Polak, but he's a bottom pairing / 7th D-man on this Leafs team.
Gudas is simply not good enough.

Leafs have the solution on the Marlies: just call up the CyBorg, and demote Marincin or Holl.

He'd be my first selection.

Once Matthews and Nylander get back into game shape this will be a much different looking team

I think we match up well against Tampa. It would be a skill v. skill matchup. I like our skill a lot.. So far, offensively at least, Rielly is close to Hedman in terms of what they can do with the puck. We just need to add a piece on defense that can handle some of Tampa's skill

Hymen got more than enough in game.

Depietro would be a nice piece. Would Nylander have got it done? I do wonder why Dubas would publicly say he would never trade him as long as he was the GM. That is something a GM should never say, even about the best players in the league, let alone Nylander.

They are not built for the playoffs, especially on their defence.

There seems to be some disconnect in terms of the message.

Nylander said that Dubas said that he'd never trade him.

Dubas claims that he said that he told Nylander that the point of signing him wasn't to trade him for other assets.

No more trading with our rivals.
Specially the bruins, we seem lose every deal.

Wrong my friend, one of the components that the Bruins got from the Kessel trade was Tyler Seguin, who the Bruins subsequently traded to Dallas & guess what the Bruins have left over from that trade................absolutely NOTHING.......ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, nothing even in their organization, it was the worst trades in all of professional sports, right up there with the Hershel Walker trade between the Cowboys & Vikings.

The Leafs ended up with Andersen & Kapanen from Pitt for Phil & you can even throw in Matthews too as they were so bad that same season that they won the draft lottery......THANK YOU KESSEL!.....
