The craziest rumour that came out was that Schmaltz wanted to be paid a lot as if he was wildly prolific - and if he fell short of that statistically it was the team’s fault for stalling his development. That this sort of crazy was even being discussed shows how off the rails it was. It does seem he wanted to be paid more than his performance dictated.

Was there a credible source that ever gave a figure on Schmaltz' contract demands. Or was it just internet speculation that became fact because it was repeated so often?

Kessel has a NMC, so there's no flipping him. IMO, the last thing this team needs is another player in his 30's making a ton of money. Makes no sense to fill a hole at wing and open two other ones on D and C without anyone to fill them internally.

That's right! Thanks for the reminder.

IIRC, junior players can be signed to ELCs and maintain their eligibility to continue playing in juniors hence why Beaudin, Boqvist, and Entwistle are playing juniors this season even though they have already signed.

However, college players end their college careers essentially once they sign an ELC. My guess is Mitchell and perhaps Barratt and Krys will sign ELCs this spring once their NCAA seasons are over.

The word is Chicago is one of the teams kessel would except a trade too. Your so worried about losing a 35 year old defenseman whom is creating a cap problem for the next 4 years as well as he doesn't make this team better now or in the future , anisomov is useless let him be somebody else's problem.

Keith and Seabrook both need to go , if a deal is to be made and it doesn't cost Chicago , picks, prospects or eating salary , because it's time for everyone to wake up and realize this team is garbage and you might as well lose with having cap space and spots on the team to compete for.

Stan created this poop storm by signing a at best 6 or 7 defensemen for 2.5 million for 2 years then added another bottom 7 d because murphy and forsling were injured ? Now because this defense is even worse than last year and he is carrying 8 or 9 defenseman he can't even give rutta or manning away for free. So his choice is send forsling or Johki back down or pray you can move someone out by next week. Just piss poor decisions with the cap and personnel.

I know hawks were never in on nylander what my point was if waited after the saga was done then schmaltz might be an asset that other teams that were looking at nylander change their focus to schmaltz and maybe bowman could've made a better deal.

31 games in - only 5 forwards and one defenseman are on pace for 10 goals - and who of the other 7 forward positions could possibly pick up their pace?

Maybe the disparaged Strome.

Kampf? Kahun? Kruger? Hayden? Fortin? Kunitz? Martinsen?

We have the Vienna factory with it's outlet store at Damen & Elston. Kessel would live there. He'll go off a cliff like Seabrook if he comes here. No thanks.

Your tv must be super he because I don’t see 15 as useless and 2s contract isn’t out of line for what he is now on the hawks as there 1/2 defense man if your talking about 7 I agree. Wouldn’t want Kessel here unless heRe unless it’s a 3way deal so he doesn’t become the next problem we’re not going anywhere for 2 years getting Kessel isn’t what we need to get better and younger
