His second year he had like 35 points in 34 games when McDavid was hurt - sbroads24
Not to mention that you slam the whole "Sam's 2nd half" too.

Ok, that's the second thing. IIRC Sam played really well when Eichel went down too. Yeah, he's better than Sam, but pretending he doesn't massively benefit from McDavid just like Sam does from Eichel is outright lunacy. - Wetbandit1
Sam was Casper when eichel went down, if I remember correctly??
It was another negative |

Stats like losses are just about narrative fitting. I ignore these trivial numbers. |

T-Pegs needs to offer 10K per goal in cash vs. that b!tch.

I'm sure there's other #2 picks that dont ride the coattails of a mega superstar.
Malkin seems like a pretty good hockey player.
Without Crosby?? - Boss34
I know this sounds crazy but
Malkin is even better when Crosby is out of the lineup.
Stats back this up.
I'm not doing your research for you. Malkin turns it up a notch when Crosby is out. Source: All Russians want to be THE MAN. |

[quote=jcragcrumple]And only one of the two is 19, and only one has been around the team for 6 years.
And Thompson has 3 even strength goals to Larsson's 1
It's not a cop out to say Larsson is the worst player Sabres regular on the roster. Idk why this is even a "hot take"
Making excuses for someone not producing is a cop out imo. I'm sure you would have said the same thing to me about ROR last
-jcraig
Man, talk about intense hate here, and beating a dead horse, whcih I'm in favor of, lol....but you got to let this go.
He's virtually a Defenseman playing forward...your comparable should be to the Dmen on the team.
We know he sucks Offensively, but he does have utility as a defensive forward.
YES, of course more G and A would be great (so would more T & A, but I digress).
Just as rediculous as comparing him to top the top O on the team would be comparing him to Hutton's offensive production...which, by the way Lockport Larry is simply crushing him at.
Hutton sucks, 0-0-0 in 5x TOI
Let it go...you are trending into Fitz land here. |

If you want to improve a team, you remove the worst players on the team - jcragcrumple
I can agree with this.
Let's define what makes a player qualify as the worst though,
certainly one must give heavy consideration to their role...and contract value...two aspects that must be considered in that equation...
Okposo (actually 5-10-15 is doing better than I thought, but at $6m)
Berglund
Sobotka
Erod
Tage
Otherwise, if points only the cuts have to start with Hutton (I just love beating this horse to death over and over again) |

someday you guys will get it
the first line and the 4th line is not the problem with this team
it's the middle 6 not scoring

Couldnt be more correct. Bots has done a good job at targeting help. We need a trade. I know some will disagree but we need 2 second or third liners now. Im sick of waiting, we've all been "suffering" for 5 years. Enough.
If I took over today, Pommer and Okposo would never play another game on my team, just figure it out with the cap somehow. I have no qualms about trading Guhle, Olaffsson, Nylander, hell...Id even send Mittelstadt or Risto on their way for the right guy.
Theres help out there to be had, IMO, Blues, Kings, Flyers, Anaheim all have players that could help.
Enough already |

For those worried about the CAP, don't be.
Cap goes up to 83MM.
Skinner at 8.25
MCcabe at 4.75
Ullmark at 2.5
Girgensons at 2MM (4th line center role, he is fine there.
Let Pominville go
Let larsson walk
Move Sobodka
move Berglund for a 5th (Shout out to boss) retain 900K.
Trade Scnadella, Nylander, 1st rd pick + a Bailey/Baptiste for Brandon Saad.
That's about 72MM in cap, 11MM in space.
Cap will go up year after next year as well. |

Baptiste is already gone. Larsson is your best defensive forward (hate all you want), nobody wants Berglund or his contract (maybe Sobotka), and our Defense still lacks “The Guy”. |

Is he fast enough for 2C?
Both these guys seem to be having down years. They both feel to me like Beaulieu type pick-ups ... next year everybody will be saying, "Hey he's a solid player for the price we paid, but he isn't lighting the world on fire."
That's not a bad thing (especially in comparison to what we're saying about Berglund and Slobotka) but wouldn't it be great to grab another Skinner somewhere? |

We haven’t known Botts long enough to know his style. Wonder if he’s had any involvement for a guy like Doughty.
He’d fit. |

I have not back read since my last post yesterday before 5:00 pm. I bet we are still talking about how Sam is a disappointment because he is a #2 overall pick that does not take over a game and only scores 50-60 pts per year.
I'll go back and read now. |
