Pretty self explanatory. - MJL
If the Flyers win the cup this year then they won't have any goaltending controversy
or coach issues... |

yeah I think the Holmgren will sell the farm for the top prize is overdone. He was the GM for the most part with no CAP, he has had plenty of time to study the new NHL. - wcorvette

Oh I think he definitely would be here! Winning cures all ills...but when the team is losing, fans are tuning out and the bosses think you’re just a bystander... - Shafe5858
So it came down to not winning and not about not talking enough to his bosses. |

Teams routinely pressured Giroux and Gostisbehere on the PP. That's not why the Flyers PP is struggling. - MJL

When did holmgren tell this to you? Or is this another one of your opinion which you treat as a fact? |

There's still every reason to think hart can develop into a solid NHL tender, and like you say the long deal could become an issue.
No one is questioning Hart but the problem is when. You cant bank on the fact that he will be ready soon. We did that with Patrick and it screwed us royally. Get a goalie and get him long term. TB did the same thing with Vas. They had Bishop signed, once Vas was ready, traded him to someone looking for a goalie. Quick is only 32. Even in 5 years he is going to be a top goalie. |

What will it cost to acquire Quick? |

The future is Hart. They need someone to play next season. - MJL
Quick and Crawford are Stanley cup winning goalies. These are "contend now" type of moves, and they aren't there yet.
I would imagine there are younger options who are better than Elliot/Nuiverth. Plus I'd hate to see what those 2 goalies would cost. |

I agree 10000%...If the Flyers were playing well, in a playoff position and just needed that extra push to solidify goaltending then it would make sense.

If the team was winning and Hextall wasn't explaining to the higher ups what deals he didn't make and why, do you think he'd still be here? - MJL
Yes.
Everyone knows he would.
But they aren't. And he, Hextall, mandated they take a step forward. Not Holmgren or Scott.
So if your the boss. Do you continue to allow your GM to be an ass, tell you his way will work, asks for more time and results will come all the while most of your young core guys are regressing this season and your losing attendance and in last place? Also he isn't inclined to really make any moves to fill holes or provide you with any answers?
I guess you just say "Ok Ron, keep doing what you do?"

The Islanders lost their franchise center and are playing better. The Rangers blew up their roster and are better.
No matter how birght the future might look the team right now is a failure. |

I don't consider it a failure, it's just the Flyers have more issues than 1 simple trade will fix. |

Right now it's a failure.
If I saw improvement but they just weren't ready to compete I would be ok.
I am seeing things I don't like moving forward and not sure where the answer will come from. |

I wonder if the new coaches have anything to do with it? Maybe if we fired hakstol we might improve. Oh well since there is no way to know for sure, we might as well just stay with hakstol.
That was sarcasm |

If you want to only look at the current situation and expectations for this year alone...yes super failure no question. |

I believe you're insinuating things. I don't buy that he was being an ass. Hextall was doing exactly what he said he was going to do when he was hired. Hextall was inclined to make offers to Taveras and Stastny. He signed JVR. The next step will be taken by the young players. |
