Duncan Keith would be a great fit for Toronto...

Edit: darn you to heck, Procksie!

Is he poop now? If so disregard my previous thought.

that's an absolutely horrid idea. That's exactly what Leafs management of a decade ago would do.

And I LOVE Duncan Keith. But no. No way, no how.

- prock

exactly.... thats a Leafs Nonis/Poulin/Loiselle era move.. and that might be the worst few years as a leaf fan I can remember..that whole sequence of moves they made was historically bad

Because we don't want to give Bracco to another team, and be forced to watch him develop into a superstar.
- Atomic Wedgie

Bracco is destined to (frank) us over like so many before ...Robbie Earl, Victor Stalberg, Chris Didominico, Jiri (look at my abs) Tlusty, Greg McKegg, ...the list goes on and on ...

Seriously is Keith poopballs now? I haven't watched a single minute of his ice time in years so I really don't know.

no he is not, but being 35 and having 4 more years on his contract is very risky.
also a LD

I guess if they retained salary and took (frank) all for him...but dont see that

He is still a top pair...his cap hit is good now.

but in 4 years do we want him and Z on the cap needing to re up Reilly,Andersen and Kadri? no

If a Petro deal happened I'd love to get Fabbri back in the deal...

With all his injury problems he might just take a 3 year 1 million AVV dollar deal for the financial security. And if he works out he could still be a top 6 forward.

The Leafs won't mind burying 3 million if they had to.

I don't think it happens either but just thinking it through ...

If you think he has 2 or 3 good years left in the tank as a top 4 dman. He's got 5 years left at an AAV of 5.5'ish but his salary drops from 4.5 this year down to 1.5 in that 5th year. And I think if he waves his NMC to accept a trade the NMC is gone.

So if he's still good ... if he comes on the cheap ....and if he waves his NMC (and it's gone) ....then he's pretty good value for a couple of years and is probably tradeable down the line due to his NMC being waved and his low salary figure. Just a thought ...

- The Law

He's 35 years old, and $5.5M for a guy that is pretty much second pairing at this point is not great. If there was a dman I'd count on to be able to handle the NHL game late into his career, it would be him, but he's declined a fair bit already. He's signed till 40.

Just a hard no. I do'nt think they're actually allowed to retain the amounts of salary it would require to make him attractive. He would need 50% retention at minimum to even consider it.

Leafs aren't trading for any defencemen.
They aren't. So you can all stop being idiots!

They'll definitely add someone by the deadline. It might not be a big name though.

What stung most was when we acquired Billy Sweatt in the Versteeg trade, and he refused to sign with Toronto.

I always hated Vancouver for signing him after that.

It just wasn't fair.

I know it likely won't happen, but I'd like a Pietroangelo deal to include Patrick Maroon and/or Robert Bortuzzo.

Sure... But they aren't trading Nylander, Brown, Johnsson or anyone of significance to do it. And they certainly aren't doing it till the deadline.

I think St.Louis is better than this...but if they continue down this path I see Petro as b a big time guy they look to deal first...like the Rangers last season with Mcdonaugh.

So if the Blues keep this up I absolutely see the Leafs as front runners for him. It is not far fetched at all.

but I don't mind Maroon...I still would rather Fabbri just because of the high reward.

I agree. There's no point. They can dangle a first rounder and a prospect at this point.

I know what you mean bud.. I'm still upset about how the whole Philippe Paradis thing was handled. Was the key piece we got back in the Tlusty trade. Sign him to a 3 yr deal in April and then trade him in June of that same year for Sweatt and Versteeg

Nylander, probably not...Johnnson? Brown? Come on man. They could absolutely trade these guys. They are secondary pieces. They aren't part of the core at all.

You sound like the people who said "no way JT signs here because Leafs" "No way Babs signs here"[/img]

No, because when Auston was in grade 8, his geography class took a trip to Houston.

Since then, he's always wanted to play hockey there.

The offer sheet is real.

I 2nd that.

I don't think he causes problems now...but in years 5,6,7 he will be a nuisance.

Going into tonight he had 6 goals in 5 games after coming back from injury.
- Atomic Wedgie

The point was nothing since that hit by Kronwall... and still nothing. He was just noting that Matthews hasn't really leaned into his shots. I haven't seen most of the last 3 games so I have no idea if that is true?
