Andy Petrillo was on the morning drive show today ....she was fear mongering that the real threat to the Leafs was offer sheets to Johnsson and Kapanen.
geezus f'n christo ... - The Law
They can't discuss the team's play, can they?
I've noticed since Matthews to Arizona is less believable now they are switching to Jonhsson and Kapanen.
No GM will offersheet either guy. |

I doubt either gets that much. Comps for KK should be about 2.5 x 2 and Johnsson gets a big league contract that starts with a "1". - The Law
uhhh no. I have no idea what com parables you are using but you don't have to look far to find them. Hyman got 4x2.25 after a 28 point season. Brown got 3x2.1 after 36 points. And by this offseason the cap will have raised almost 10 million since then.
You are way off. |

Mine are 10 years apart. I avoided that problem entirely. I also had the girl first so she's super helpful and motherly to her brother. It's win/win. - Aaron_85
I had the opportunity to spend two days alone with my son while Mrs. Scabeh and the baby were away at her sister's house.
When she came back, my son cried because "he had so much fun with daddy and now that they're back it's over".

We ain't getting anything for career AHLer, Kasperi Kapanen.
He'll never make the show. - walshyleafsfan
I saw a thread on HFboards proposing Andreas Johnsson and Justin Holl for Brendan Leipsic and Jett Woo back in October-ish.
the amount of "why would anyone want a fringe AHLer like Andreas Johnsson, he's not worth a solid prospect and player that is doing well for us" going around was spectacular. Brought a tear to my eye. Brought me back to the days of everyone telling Leaf fans how bad Kapanen is.
I wonder if those people feel stupid now. they should. |

I used to think HB was full of the the stupidest, most uninformed hockey fans I’ll ever find.
Now HB is almost a safe haven from the absurdity of anywhere else, especially twitter.

Sure ...
Look up contracts for the past number of years. Sportrac is a good site. Shorter term = less $$. Hyman gets 2.25 b/c he locked in for 4 years instead of 2. He would have gotten less per year on a 2 year deal. RFA's scale up ....Plus I believe Hyman (maybe CB too) gave up UFA years.
Both these guys fit the mold of a short term deal due to increasing potential and the Leafs likely needing some flexibility.
For just a few comps ...
Kase did 3 x 2.6
Ritchie did 3 x 1.5
Rienhart did 2 x 3.6
Mantha 2 x 3.3
Vesey 2 x 2.2
Montour, Nurse ... both about 2 x 3.2
Pulock 2 x 2
Virtanen and McCann 2 x 1.25
Fast and J Anderson 2 x 1.85'ish
Sam Bennett 2 x 1.95
Ferland 2 x 1.85
Go back to 2016 and there are a tonne of high potential guys coming off their ELC 's that sign for 2 years at something between 2 and 2.5 milly.
Good enough? |

The only contracts that are comparable are Mantha's and Kase. Mantha being the closest to being on par. Add in the cap increase and it is 2x3.5 for Kap.
And 1 million for Johnnson? Yeah right

I fear that your projections on Kasparen* are low.
He's 84 in the league in points for forwards.
If I'm his agent, I'm telling the Leafs he's a top line forward.
*This is the second time I've called him that. Let's just pretend I'm suggesting that should be his nickname. Hell, it's better than "mango." |

I think the truth is between what you two are saying.
He's going to get around $3M I think. $2.5 to $3M. He hasn't shown enough to get much more than that.

If Corey Schneider doesn't win by december 27th, he will have gone a full year without winning a game.
He's 0-15-3 since then. |

There is still 50 games left....lots of time to score 25 goals and 50+points.
which is less than what he is on pace for. He blows all those comparisons out of the water if he keeps it up. |

A little, but not much. He's got one year of good production (and even that assumes he keeps it up for the year). I can't imagine he gets $4M. |

right? They're not signing Kapanen for 8 years. It'll be a 2 year most likely at like $3M. |

Ya people need to slow it down with how much they expect kap to earn.
Hes only played 86 nhl games and has 31pts.
Most of those pts came from playing on a line with one of the best centers in the league.
Up until the melander hold out he had 10pts in 55 games.
Not earth shattering. |
