What are the two firsts? Sharks & 2020 Sabres?
- Lilroot9

Doesn't matter. Let's say Blues is one of them.

Here's one.

Do you do the following:

Carter Hutton, 1st, Guhle for Ivan Provorov

- TheSabresTaco

Dont think so. That sets us back, we need Hutton a solid goalie and guy in the room.

Provorov is a good D man, but that Hutton contract is really helpful.

Question for the 40+ crowd.. why was Pierre Turgeon traded so many times?
- TheSabresTaco

Wasn't really traded a lot. We traded him for Lafontaine.
Other pieces included, but they were the main pieces and worked out for both players and teams (didn't realize Turgeon had 58g 74a his second season with the Isles.) Traded to Montreal halfway through his 4th season with NYI, but believe he got hurt. Played one full season there and trade to the Blues. Then signed a couple UFA contracts. So traded 3 times.

Compare that to a few others: Vanek traded 4 times, Housley 5 times, Paul Coffey 7 times, Olli 7 times, Prospal 6 times, Dominic Moore 6 times, and Mike Sillenger has the record at 10 times being traded.

I don't think there really is a reason for any of the teams that traded him away other than just making a hockey trade. He performed well for each team he played for.

Got to go on the Nords bus back in Sakic’s rookie year. Have a program signed by the whole team chicken wing grease and all.

Sakic wore 88 then and signed it 88.

That's really cool.

The chicken wings on the bus was always funny.

Players probably looked forward to playing in buffalo

I want to keep the Blues pick.

If the Blues really want to trade key players on their team, they will do it and they will finish toward the bottom 2 years in a row (at least) so keeping their pick could be top 5 next year.

Do you trade a top 5 pick for Tarasenko? I do not, mostly due to salary and years under team control.

My parents and I were the only ones out there.

They were like hop in kid and meet the boys.

It was pretty neat for an 8/9 yr old.

speaking of food. Why do the Bills and Sabres insist on saying that the slop pizza they serve at the games is LaNova's Pizza? I am a west sider and I can tell you for FACT that taint Lanova's pizza. Only thing that is LaNova's is the box it comes in....

What a great memory. That's so cool, especially from an opposing team. Nice to hear.

I always hated the nordiques.
Dale hunter is still on "the list"

I do know what I am getting, a 27 year old, $7.5 cap hit for 3 more years, around 0.82 points / game (~67 points a year).

A top 5 pick could be a dud, I get that. Just think the plan was to add a little each year to keep us good for years.

I think Botteril is more into the smaller trades, but time will tell. Not sure he would go all in on a player like this.

Tarasenko is on a different level. He's a true star.

I wouldn't trade the Blues pick for much. A 30g, 70pt...a RWer...born in 91...with 4 more years at a fair cap number...yeah that would make me open the wallet. Regardless of where the STL pick would end up, you'd HOPE to get a player like him.

Could you lose that trade? Sure, any trade with picks runs that risk. Still, the chances of that pick being a better player than Tarasenko is slim.

I believe he has this year and 4 more. It's mostly about the goals with him. He's a consistent 30 goal scorer. He was injured last year, missed 20 games, still scored 21, he's slow this year, but the team is a dumpster...on Jacks wing, can you imagine what him Jack and Skinner could do...

All water under the bridge, I agree Botts probably doesn't dip this deep to acquire someone.

If the pick went back as a key piece of the trade, you would be turning ROR into Taresenko, Berglund, Sobotka and Thompson. That's pretty unreal. I would add another first if needed. Getting the cash to mesh would be the tough part. Okposo has to go, and that would be a nonstarter I would think

On the Blues:

Dreger says that Blues GM Doug Armstrong is always looking to improve his team. They "should be better than they are playing and they are mentally fragile" according to some people around the team.

Two points: First, if it's a top 5 pick we are not getting it unless you think it would be top 5 again next year. Secondly, $7.5m for 4 more season for a RW who hovers around 40g and 75p is a really good deal. Comparable 26 y/o RWs are Stone at $7.35m who is a UFA that will be looking for a raise and Kucherov who just signed for $9.5m. So, yes I would trade the pick that may or may not end up being a top 5 and would add to it to get a player like Tarasenko.
