He's better than Carlson, especially defensively but 8 AAV over 8 years is fair considering he's having a down year this year and could work very well for the Leafs. He's exactly what they need right now.

Adding Pietrangelo as the #1 RHD and Bortuzzo as the bottom pairing RHD would go a long way for the Leafs.

Better than Ozhiganov. More experience, especially in the NHL. Bigger, stronger, hits harder. Nothing more than a bottom pairing guy who brings the Leafs more size and sandpaper without sacrificing skating ability. Obviously, not afraid to fight either and obviously also competitive, hates to lose.

Saying no to Pietrangelo (or any legit #1 RHD) is like saying no to a #1 center in 2010. It's painfully obvious the team needs one. He's just worryied if it costs Nylander, he'll have to move to St. Louis with him to keep Nylander's Richard in his mouth.

Well if there's any truth to this rumor Dubas wouldn't trade an unsigned Nylander for him so he won't be trading a the one guy he has signed long term and has publically said he's not trading. So besides Nylander what gets us Pietrangelo.
