There is just no getting through to you, the trio has lost in the first shift two games in a row, meaning our BEST player, the guy that leads the team in points, did not touch the ice in a 3 on 3 pond hockey gimmick overtime. I'm done with this subject.

Coots had 2 goals in the game. I can see going with the hot hand and it came close to working.

But I wanted G out there. It's a Western Conference opponent (frank)ING GO FOR THE KILL if you lose so be it. Eastern Conference Opponent I might go a little more cautious as you don't want to make sure to hand them the extra point and Jake and Ghost aren't exactly killing it right now.

They can do whatever Fletcher wants as long as you keep Giroux and Couturier.

Obviously, your better players, young players, have more value.

But every single thing, every asset in the organization and every coach, has to be available to get this garbage turned around.

Last night was ridiculous. They can’t defend. They’re simply not capable of doing what it takes to move past where this franchise has been: not
good enough.

You lose games this because you aren’t good enough.

You cannot keep running the same
guys out there, the same coaches, and expect it to change.

You have to get in there and start moving on from people

In all honesty I would have had Couturier out there to start. The Flames were starting Gaudreau, Monahan and Girodano. I would have had Couturier and Provorov out there.

I wouldn't have liked the match up with Voracek and Gostisbehere out there.

You say that but your tone would be completely different had Provorov scored on that semi breakaway

Weise and MacDonald are veterans and are two of the better defensive players on the team.

Amac played like poop all game so idk what warranted him out there

I don't care who comes off, Giroux has to be out there, twice he has not touched the ice now. In our position you go for the kill, especially out West.

Hockey Coach 101... late in game after timeout. D Pair 1 rolls out.

I think when it comes to OT you gotta play your best possession guys. To me that is Giroux, Couturier and Provorov.

The previous OT Loss I go Coots line it's against Columbus... This one I would have went G. Just gut calls though.

Right now.

Does this team have a D Pair 1?

They need to find another top end defender to handle minutes.

Yep the wheels in that game come off at 2:17 of the third when Simmer is standing right in front of a ref being told Wayne don't throw another and BOOM there he goes and does it. Then at 7:23, 9:22 and 13:02 when three totally had to be called lazy ass penalties are taken. Say anything about them killing all 4 to give them credit but you can't defend a lead taking 4 penalties in a period. It's playing with fire.

This!!
.....and i’ve Seen enough of Stolarz to keep playing him along with Elliott at this point. I just don’t see enough of an upgrade to spend assets on for another questionable upgrade. Use them for a 2C/3C, and a solid stay at home D if a decent trade is available. We know changes are coming. I’d just rather be patient with prudent trades, than get fleeced.

Usually the teams that defend, and just dump in are playing for the shootout.
The players used in OT can be debated, but it should have never went to OT in the first place.
That's the bigger issue.

- puckhead17

That was really tough to blow a 2 goal lead in the final 65 seconds after your putrid PK actually got through some good kills in the 3rd. This team is screaming for a coaching change or a franchise changing trade that really allows the new GM to wipe away the stench around this team right now.
But a tough deflection goes in....then Giroux was able to force them down to their own zone with 20 seconds left, but they then allowed Calgary up the ice with no resistance and a poor rebound later the games tied. That fact that Andrew Macdonald is our best option in the last 30 seconds with a one goal lead really says where this team is.

Arguing about who to blame on the OT goal is like arguing about the way in which the Titanic was evacuated. The real mistake was speeding blindly through iceberg infested waters, just as the Flyers real mistake was rolling over like a submissive b!tch and blowing a 2 goal in the last couple minutes of regulation.

Problem is if they don't score you get hammered after the change until they can return. I see the point of splitting G and Coots in OT.

It's hard for me to complain considering they did get a grade a chance to end it.

It's not like the trio was contained in the zone. It was a chance one way and then Calgary came down on a rush and finished their chance.

your correct in my view anyways....it's about skill and speed in 3 on 3...our two most skilled guys have now not taken a shift in 2 straight OT losses....let that sink in. It is on the coach.

Along with 4 point, $7m Lucic.

Honestly the OT personnel can be debated, but the whole 3rd period was the main concern.

- puckhead17

That lucic deal is hilarious

You're not going to get through because it's wrong to blame the coach for who started OT. That simple.
- MJL

Knoblauch makes that decision.

Holy Hell I just rewatched it again myself. TK literally had Gio covered and lets him go to try for a break out if Provy and Coots figure out how to get the puck back.

Macdonald played 22 plus minutes and Provy played 29 plus minutes....those are 1rst pair minutes.
