Who has proven out of Ghost, Sanheim, Gudas, Hagg, or Folin that they can be the guy with Provorov. Simple answer is NONE OF THE ABOVE. That's on Hextall and he's gone. Will Fletcher fix it only time will tell.
- dragonoffrost

I find it a bit weird that Hexy couldn't get the goalies and defence to work considering he was a goalie and he knows how important goalie and defence are to a team.

The only guy I would be disappointed to see go is Giroux.....your statements above are exact.

Look at the Rags. Ryan McDonagh got and J.T. Miller got moved, for one simple reason: the Rags realized it just wasn’t good enough.

Sometimes you just have to be honest, sack up and do it.

They’re just not good enough

Odd that the goalies are kind of serviceable when Elliott gets healthy if Stolie continues his level of play.

If you gave STL a 1st maybe
- manvanfan

I would.

I think the Flyers could use a pure sniper like Tarasenko. Parayko can produce about 35 points and is also 6'6'' and good skater.

I thought last year that Ghost did a good job with him. This year both guys have regressed. Hextall touched on in his exit interview. The D coach was fired. Hopefully they can find a pair that works. I'm sure Fletcher will try to fix it....hopefully he's successful.

We've seen Gudas with Provorov … it's the same and Provorov/AMac. Sanheim would be interesting but coach hasn't done it at low pressure situation you really want him to do it when the team is melting down?
- dragonoffrost

To me Provorov was probably best when paired with Hagg.

I give them the First and the extra Third if they take AMac back with the deal. We'd need an open roster spot.

Time to go Hak.

- Tomahawk

Long overdue.

At this point though, I think I'd rather just keep him until EOY to complete the low-key tank

Also, Idk why I keep seeing Pietrangelo. He's good and all, but still overrated. I highly doubt he'd be worth the price tag.

Voracek hate, I don't understand. The dude is a top-20 point producer in the NHL since joining the flyers.

Yup..well said..

Pains me to say it but if the right deal comes up for Simmonds then you go for it.
Same with Jake..

What I dont want them to do is move either of those players just for the sake of making a big trade to shake up the team.

Move them because you are getting a return you think can help this team next year and beyond...

- opeth_pa

Exactly — benching Lehtera and Weal isn’t the answer. Those are depth players. Irrelevant as a long-term solution.

You are 30th on the PK and 30th on the PP.

No one can sit there and say we have to keep all of these players — that is insanity

yup that's were I'm at. This is precisely what Holmgren was talking about when he said a "difference in philosophy" I think it went beyond that Hextall was a patient guy.

Amac played like poop all game so idk what warranted him out there
- Richieattack18

part of the issue that AMAC would be considered one of the better defenders. Some credibility considering last year, ZERO with how he has played this year

Would anyone do MacDonald for Phaneuf straight up?

MacDonald has one more year at 5mi.

Phaneuf has two more at 5.25.

Doesn't seem like much but it would kind of be like the hartnell for Umberger move. LA gets out of a deal a year earlier.

Phaneuf, while not the same player could handle some heavy minutes and also can play on the PK. Brings you some size back there. Maybe a little thump if needed.

Or doesn't bring much and is just moving the deck chairs.

It's hard for me to complain considering they did get a grade a chance to end it.

It's not like the trio was contained in the zone. It was a chance one way and then Calgary came down on a rush and finished their chance.

- J35Bacher

knowing they had their best guns out there, I would have had Coots out but I probably would have put G with him the last OT loss

Holmgren should be out on his ass too.

His last few years as GM set this franchise back, and as club president this organization has basically become a laughing stock.

We used to laugh at teams like Edmonton, and Montreal. The Flyers are no better.

Sanheim and Simmonds for Parayko?
- manvanfan

I don't know.

I guess in my mind right now I am trying to figure out between Gostisbehere and Sanheim, who brings the most potential impact to the team moving forward.

I am kind of leaning toward Sanheim because of his size and skating and think he'll still fill out a little.

I don't really know enough about the Flyers situation but can feel your pain as constant underachievers.

Comparing this years team in Calgary to last years team is night and day.

All it took was a coaching change and a big trade.

You guys are not far off.

Just looking at Philly's left side you have Provorov, Hagg, Ghost. Sanheim is worse then Provorov for all around game. Isn't as physical as Hagg and probably won't ever score as much as Ghost.

Best explanation for my hate of Jake is yes he scores a ton of points but he also is a sieve on defense. I love when he's scoring for us but the games when he's a turnover machine and won't try to recover from those turnovers are just maddening. You can have a few 5 point nights to inflate a point total and make your offensive side of the game look great. How can he do that on the defensive side?

Sitting G to start OT is just comical. As is to see the defense of it.

Sitting Crosby to start Staal is maybe a comparison.

TN in shambles with how wrong they’re constantly being proven.
