I don't really know enough about the Flyers situation but can feel your pain as constant underachievers.

Comparing this years team in Calgary to last years team is night and day.

All it took was a coaching change and a big trade.

You guys are not far off.

I always thought Lindholm just needed a new home. Happens he is also at that "break out" age.

Sitting G to start OT is just comical. As is to see the defense of it.

Sitting Crosby to start Staal is maybe a comparison.

TN in shambles with how wrong they’re constantly being proven.

Crosby is still a pretty solid defensive player. Also the Pens can start Crosby and follow up with Malkin who is just as good..

Not really the same

Everybody loves Simmonds and hes absolutely a character youd think would be part of the solution vs the problem. But this team needs change and hes probably the easiest piece to move to get that rolling. Giving him a significant long term raise is not going to help them.

The Focus now has to be on the next wave of players. Giroux is still thier star. Couturier is thier stud. Beyond that I'm not interested in keeping around any of the veterans who have failed to get it done the last 4-5 years.

Get a look at and understand the young talent you have. Everyone else is available.

Would anyone do MacDonald for Phaneuf straight up?

MacDonald has one more year at 5mi.

Phaneuf has two more at 5.25.

Doesn't seem like much but it would kind of be like the hartnell for Umberger move. LA gets out of a deal a year earlier.

Phaneuf, while not the same player could handle some heavy minutes and also can play on the PK. Brings you some size back there. Maybe a little thump if needed.

Or doesn't bring much and is just moving the deck chairs.

i think he just got hurt but I wouldnt mind, Dion clears the porch and has a nasty streak

Is Phaneuf that far gone?
- J35Bacher

IMO, yes. It would be at best a lateral move from an on-ice perspective. Add in the fact Phaneuf has one more year than Amac, it makes it a slam dunk no to me.

Yeah Lindholm has been lights out. That top line with Ferland was good but we also went through the dark days of having Chiasson and Brouwer there.

D. Hamilton had a great year but as it turns out Gio makes anyone playing with him a super star. Do not miss him at all.

Read earlier on the thread someone saying that the coach is just a figurehead, they could not be farther from the truth. Would love to see what Q could do with the Flyers.

Best explanation for my hate of Jake is yes he scores a ton of points but he also is a sieve on defense. I love when he's scoring for us but the games when he's a turnover machine and won't try to recover from those turnovers are just maddening. You can have a few 5 point nights to inflate a point total and make your offensive side of the game look great. How can he do that on the defensive side?
- dragonoffrost

This team got destroyed in the playoffs last year, and has been an inconsistent mess for years. I don’t think it’s out of the question that the confidence is at an all time low.

It would suck to see Jake go. I don’t agree with it, but I would understand. Keeping Hak and letting talented players leave, man - you can’t make it up.

Personally? I would like to see the guys under new bench leadership and then trade at the draft or FA. Mid season I just don’t like. They did this to themselves by trotting out the goalies they did, and making no bench changes in the off season.

Suck it up and get the top pick. I’m just worried about the kids at this point. This is piss poor development.

Peters brought in a few of his guys. It seems to have helped the transition. I don't want anyone from Chicago not named Kane or Anisimov. The first is going to cost and that contract could be ugly. The second is probably doable for the right deal.

Ek has flyers going after Quick and Pens going for Parayko.

Might as well go all in for the future and trade for Quick and Doughty.

Sanheim, Ginning, Ratcliffe, Cates, O' Brien and 2nd and 3rd.

When you go into OT the next shot could win, so why not go out with your best from the start? Having said that, the Flyers could have won in OT, but missed the opportunity. That is where the problems started. TK was back on defense and basically did very little. Couts skated back hard and did what he was supposed to do. Provy, skated back not so fast (could have been tired), but instead of taking the man in front of the net he skated to be beside Couts and left the shooter in front by himself while TK was not playing any D at that time nor in the picture. Poor assignment recognition. If they don't know what to do on a 3 Man OT shift, they shouldn't be out there.

Again where did I say Hak stays? I'm going two pronged here.

I will admit he's frustrating. However, he will be missed dearly if the Flyers do move on from him. Kind of one of those things that you don't know what you have until its gone IMO.

Giroux is your best player. He needs to be out to win you the game.

As usual, the “safe” play was made. Conservative crap. Haks wet dream, an OT loser point.

while TK was no help, part of the plan is to probably to have him be the Flier, puck breaks free and he is gone.

1 more time, dont go get a goalie unless it is a real good price... NO FREAKING GOALIE CAN STOP THE CHANCES THEY GIVE UP. I honestly can't see anything they pick up being a ton better than Stollie on this team

I don't know.

Depends on what comes back.

When Nashville moved Erat for Forsberg do you think they regretted it.

You have to make a deal that makes sense.

Last night Couturier was one of their best players. I have no issue with who was on the ice. It's what happens in OT. Teams trade chances.

Yup. I’d agree to have chased one in the off season but no point now.

Dump the bench boys, trade Simmonds and get the best pick you can.

Who knows what Scott wants though.

Wholy (frank) no. Not even my teams prospects, I wouldn't give that up for those two.
