There is NO WAY in hell I want Voracek and Gostisbehere out against the trio Calgary started in OT. If they lose the faceoff or lose possession Giroux may as well be playing 1 on 3 at that point.

I understand your frustration and we all share it. But it was the right move. And as I said, if Provorov finishes his breakaway its all a moot point (Sorry Bodiva I know its not actually the right way to use the term)

I cant believe THIS is what is taking up all our time today while we gloss over the fact it should never have gotten to overtime.

- MBFlyerfan

Two games, two first shift losses, Giroux doesn't touch the ice. Send your dribble elsewhere.

Who ? Crawford ? The guy who got benched a bunch of times for darling? Hes a negligible improvement st best. A top 2 d man? Keith ? Hes the only guy they got and hss 35 with 4 more years after this one on his contract. A third line center is about all I'd want from them. And I wont over pay for anisimov.
- Tfaehner

Yeah remember when Crawford was on the block because they had Darling who could do the same thing for Chicago...

Wouldn't it be smarter to try signing Stone this offseason and moving Voracek separately?
- PhillySportsGuy

If Ottawa cant re sign him I think they deal him and I would expect where ever he goes would have faith they'd be able to long term sign him. I have more faith in duchene making it to ufa than stone.

Yeah Chicago believed they were that close in skill level. Obviously that didnt prove true or maybe they were both benefited from playing with a better team in Chicago than darling in Carolina. I just am not in the business of giving up assets for a marginal improvement. If its going to make us a heck of a lot better than I agree.

This team needs a Kimmo Timonen in the worst way. I have no idea who is available, but if they are going to expend assets, please expend them on a quality veteran Dman before all else.

Thanks.

They desperately need a top 2 D, a third line center, and a goalie that can steal games. I get Stolie is battling well but well isnt good enough. I’d look to trade Simmer, Voracek and some prospects (only because it would be necessary). I’d knock on Chicago’s door. They have some of these pieces.
- coffee junkie

I believe they have a top 2 defenseman in sanheim but the coach doesn’t use him
I believe they have a third line center for next year in Morgan frost and don’t want to block him.
I believe hart should be up in goal for us next year and don’t want a redo of the bobrovsky fiasco.

I know this makes people say that we are the sacrificing this year to development but I say no, we sacrificed the last two years of development to pursue mediocrity.

I think what this team needs is to stop thinking that Andrew Macdonald is kimmo timonen.

Team needs a Pronger way more than a Timonen imo.

I guess they had to get rid of Hextall so they could have this Hartnell night next week.

If they trade for him can't they give him an extra year compared to free agency?

After last night, I would be more focused on a Dman than a goalie. I'd do what it takes to get Parayko from STL before the Pens get him. He is young enough to continue to develop with our core D. I would also be looking for that shutdown forward to help with PK minutes. We have to have that killer attitude to close out games late in the 3rd. Pronger would have gone apepoop in this lockerroom.

Michael Leighton carried us to the Cup final. Team d helps an average NHL goalie.

- cdearth23

Yep I'm done beating the goalie dead horse. Elliott and Stolie ride this season out.

Since 2000 these goalies have won a cup.

Niemi
Quick x2
Ward
Giguere
Fleury
Hasek
Crawford x2
Murray
Khabibulin
Brodeur x2
Osgood
Thomas
Roy

Holy hell there's some Elliott/Stolie level guys on that list.

Individually there is decent talent here. For whatever reason it's just not working collectively and hasn't really pushed the envelope for a title. Could a new coach come in and turn it around. Possibly. Maybe even probably.

Big picture they need big changes. My friends and I were watching last night and when it was 5-3 we all said "watch them(Calgary) time it." Of course they did. Then we said "they'll(Philadelphia)lose in overtime ". Of course they did.

This isn't just bad. It's predictably bad.

The players just need to buckle down and try harder. Concentrate harder. Basically what Hak has said and sack up.

Maybe bring in a Scientologist or Dr Drew? I think Carter Hart has a psychologist. Maybe he can share them with the team?

It has to come from within. I’d even be open for bringing in the Bikram Yoga guy.

There really is only one vet defender I would give quality assets for and that is Pietrangelo if available.

After that I would have to think because the guy has to be worth the cost plus his age needs to fit.

Didn't we acquire Timonen and immediately sign him for 6 years?

If they wanted to commit to him I bet they could get Doughty out of LA. Don't get me wrong, it'd cost a lot, but I think it could be done. LA is dead last in the league and their prospect pool isn't that impressive. They should seriously consider moving some of their vets and retool.
