This team needs a Kimmo Timonen in the worst way. I have no idea who is available, but if they are going to expend assets, please expend them on a quality veteran Dman before all else.
Thanks. - BiggE
That's a tough one because no matter what a team's situation is, that player is always valuable.
This doesnt seem like a good idea on the surface but only idea I can think of is heavily scouting Keith and Seabrook to see if either has anything is left in the tank. If so, work something out with Chicago retaining some $. |

Team needs a Pronger way more than a Timonen imo. - hereticpride
I'll side with BiggE on this. Kimmo could do it all. PP, PK, play the big minutes. He didn't wow you statistically but he was the total package. Plus he brought it every night which is something I can't say about anybody on this team.
But to your point, I'm not saying no to Pronger either. |

Out for most the year from what I hear. - Tfaehner
Understand. But there isn't much in FA next year and he can still help next year.
I mean you could go Karlsson if unsigned but have to think he'll get something close to 8-9 mil |

Didn't we acquire Timonen and immediately sign him for 6 years? - jmatchett383
Yeah.
Him and Hartnell.

Wouldn't it be smarter to try signing Stone this offseason and moving Voracek separately? - PhillySportsGuy
Ideally.
Depends on how bad they want him. Who is to say he doesn't get traded at the deadline to another team and signs with them, never getting to FA. |

If they wanted to commit to him I bet they could get Doughty out of LA. Don't get me wrong, it'd cost a lot, but I think it could be done. LA is dead last in the league and their prospect pool isn't that impressive. They should seriously consider moving some of their vets and retool. - hereticpride
If I'm la I trade quick Carter kovalchuck Martinez brown muzzin toffoli Clifford hagelin phaneuf which should he plenty enough players to acquire tons of picks and prospects and rebuild with Kopitar and doughty. Should also still be enough talent shredded to tank for Hughes. Doughty at 28 would be untouchable. |

Right TK can improve but as we are right now. Yeeeesh
The game winner tonight. TK is alone at the dot when there's no Flame there. Leaving Coots and Provy 3 on 2. That's a killer. - dragonoffrost
truthfully I didn't like the way Coots played that in the offensive zone. provorov was battling in the corner in the O zone and Coots drifted in. there was no need for that. |

Provorov, Ghost, and Burns could be a helluva expensive blue line. |

Yeah but by the time hes healthy he would be in his ufa season recovering from an injury and have to give him a big contract. I would of loved him if he was healthy but under the new circumstances I would look elsewhere. |

I guess I just wouldn't move Voracek for the opportunity to give Stone a huge contract |

Okay. So why is Keith a no-go since he's signed for 5 years?
Age is an issue, but I wouldn't say no simply because he has big term left. |

Keith just isnt a top pairing anymore. I would still love him for his leadership and experience as a coach on the ice even if he lost a step. If Chicago retained 2.5 per year I would consider it. Even though it runs ril age 39 season that's only 3 per year which is pennies for future cap years. He wouldn't be a cap recapture if he retires early. And he could continue to help develop these kids even if he eventually moved into a 7th man role. However I wouldn't be giving up the premier prospects and picks Chicago would likely want. He also has a full nmc to consider. |

I consider stone a younger better player than voracek. For Ottawa it would be a guy that couldn't leave because hes signed to big term already so that would be enticing. But I cant imagine they'd do it straight up. |

For me i think he is done. That's why. And Chicago isn't just going to give him away.
I think if someone gets him they are trading for his name. |

we are really talking about trading a young kid like Sanheim or Ghost who is on a really good contract and still only 25 for an injured 28 year old dman with 1 year left on his deal after this year in Peitrangelo? seriously if the Flyers start making deals like this I will lose my mind. |

To make the defense better just get better goaltending and forwards that can backcheck |

He is averaging 22 minutes a night with a +2 rating and played every game for one the worst goal differential teams in the nhl... rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated |
