Konecny will never be great defensively but he can hustle back and he is still a young player. He obviously is never going to be Couturier out there but he could become solid in his own zone eventually if he works at it, still a lot of time for him. Jake and Simmonds are terrible though lol. Simmonds is actually pretty terrible in every zone lately, the play literally dies on his stick when he touches the puck more often than not.

Right TK can improve but as we are right now. Yeeeesh

The game winner tonight. TK is alone at the dot when there's no Flame there. Leaving Coots and Provy 3 on 2. That's a killer.

19 shots 5 goals against. If we said that line earlier this season you'd have sworn that was the Flyers goalie.

I have been advocating that Hextall and Hakstol, Dumb and Dumber be canned for the past two years. Surprisingly Hextall got it before Hakstol but bottom line is this team is doomed with Hakstol behind the bench. He is totally in over his head and has no idea how to utilize what he has. This loss tonight would have been his last if Fletcher could get Coach Q to sign on. Regardless somebody new will be behind the bench by the end of the year. Look at what Hitchcock has done in Edmonton, totally different team after years of futility with the clowns they continued to go with. Most of us see that Hakstoll is doomed and has no control over his players. Let's get a coach, Coma Man gone and now please the other Dimwit. Go FLyers and get a real coach.

Please stop with those awful OT Lines. Provorov with Couturier.

And someone please tell Patrick that they are playing hockey games out there. What a disappointing effort/performance from him this year. Showing nothing.

As Edmonton is displaying. It’s all up to the players and how and when they want to play

Calgary is a very fast and skilled team. Going into the game flyers had to address this. The shock is the flyers were willing to skate and trade with them. The flyers actually looked fast but not as fast. The only good news is if they can play at that pace they will win more games. The bad is they had no clue how to slow down the flames.

Hak is desperate (flyers have been for 2 seasons) and he leans too much on a small group of players. I am sure it is by necessity but it is not working and it is wearing down part of the team and not developing other options, maybe there is none

Dont waste assets on a goalie, get a legit 4th D and a middle 6 winger. Leave G at center, this should give them help this season but not cost the farm to do it. They did have better O chemistry last night, they had more than one line.

FYI

My comment about Varone and his foot speed on the prior blog was sarcasm. He showed enough to get in another game over Lethera

They have to be negotiating with Quenneville. Have to be. This team needs a new voice and direction behind the bench.

Which one:

Sanheim or Gostisbehere?

Build a package to get Peitrangelo.

One of those guys most likely needs to be in it.

Would you really trade either of those knowing Pietrangelo wouldn't play a game this year for the Flyers?

St Louis, Chicago and Los Angeles also show that coaching changes aren't a magic pill.

I know he has the hand injury but I thought I read he would be back.

Agree with your statement but I'll also say those 3 were all in house already.

Hitchcock was an outside hire so it would be more like the Flyers going after Quenneville

How is Hakstol still employed at this point. Sanheim played 10 minutes tonight after he's consistently been one of the Flyers best defenseman all season while A Mac plays 20 plus minutes. Also Weise and A Mac both on in the final minute and both their errors ensure the game goes to OT. Weise misses the puck on the boards with like 14 seconds left and if he clears it they win the game. Then A Mac doesn't box out the player in front of the net when Calgary gets the shot off with seconds left and they score on the rebound to tie it. Those coaching decisions cost them the game tonight.

Is Sanheim in the PK rotation?

I know he is on LTIR right now, so that means no play for 24-25 days I think. Plus I thought I heard he may need surgery to the hand.

Pretty sure Sanheim almost never plays PK.

13 minutes TOI this year on the PK, so only sparingly and desperate times.

Q isn't as magic pill. It could work. It could fail. Everyone acts like it'll fix everything. Why didn't Hakstol, a new voice.from outside, fix this core? Yes Hakstol needs to go, but don't be so sure it's going to fix this cluster (frank).

Has been worked in briefly in latter part of some PKs but not regularly. He made a PKing mistake last night, but the only way to learn is to be given a chance to play through it.

I guess you didn't see that those guys together to start last night were just as good as the wonder trio last year.

Roster has major holes this season but less than the prior seasons, that is a wrap

Looks like Ghost and Sanheim are looked at as defensive liabilities and don't play the PK, but Ghost plays a bulk of PP minutes where Sanheim plays none. Watching the game then looking at the numbers after, I believe these players are being misused. How MacDonald can go from not able to get into the lineup to 22+ minutes is mind boggling.

Hak is trying to shove a muffin through a keyhole and he has no clue why it's crumbling.

One thing that just slapped me over the head as I was typing that post. TK, Jake, Simmer... Dear God right wing is a black hole defensively.

Sure, don’t listen to what I keep saying. I am glad you figured it out though.
