It’s nonsense imo but we shall see. Eklund is excited to be able to talk about the Flyers.

Realistically I see them trying to save the year by trading for a goalie.

I’m just low key excited about the idea of a top 5 pick so I’d actually lean to sticking with Elliot/Stolarz for now.

The rumors on those players are coming from numerous well connected sources. Not just Eklund.

There is no short term or long term upside in using Weise in all situations.
- Tomahawk

Disagree, it gives Weise more experience when he becomes special teams coach for the Flyers.

What I have a problem with is according to the ice times given to players, the coach obviously does not trust most of the lineup in many situations. Why would these players be on the roster then?

My thought process in that situation is "I have no use for these players, give me players I can use".

- Glak18

That type of thing is the same on every team. Coaches are going to use veterans more than young players in certain situations.

I didn't say I agree with the article, someone asked for a short version of it. There is zero way of knowing if the player is 100% until they play in game situation. Skating around the rink doesn't tell the whole story, but in this situation he may get 2-4 weeks tops after a conditional assignment with the big club...is it worth it to throw him in to test?
- Glak18

I'll answer your question with a question: What is the magic number of time, after he's declared ready to play, that he can do so without fear or re-injury? A week?
A month? 6 Months? A year?

I get that he'd see limited action, but if there's little to no risk of re-aggravating his injury, why not play him?

Trades always have to be lopsided so it is easy for fans to tell who won, no one got time to wait years to see how it pans out.

Why play him when the team sucks and he would get injured.

There is no magic number. My point was if the team and player are both confident that everything is a go then play, if not it's not going to hurt to sit out 5-10 more games maybe. Morin may get cleared, be ready to go and still be scratched for the rest of the year anyway. Again this is not a situation where a player was injured and they can only heal so much or can't do anymore damage, this is major knee surgery.

The same could of been said about Giroux after his surgeries a few years ago, maybe he would of been better if he was out another month or two. Same with Elliott last year after his core surgery, his play after coming back and in the playoffs suffered greatly. Would he of been better off if he sat more? I don't know, but I know what happened.

Let's just keep him out until 2023 just to be sure he doesn't re-aggravate it.

Expecting a blockbuster trade any moment.

I can’t back read today, no idea what I missed. I want a top pairing right shot defenseman, Parayko is good, for Christmas. Blockbuster bam!

It is fine if the goaltending and forward issue are addressed after the holidays. The bandaid at center will hold things together so the holes look smaller. Alas, the defense, mercy. Lovely pieces that have no way of fitting together.

Here's how I see it: he's been out for the entire year. Won't even see live AHL action until February. He won't get much time there to even get up to live-action AHL speed. To then just put him into live-action NHL is silly - he'll be so far behind the pace of play, plus he's still a green rookie so there will be all of that to deal with as well. Right now the d corps are not in any condition to be dealing with him in the lineup all things considered.

So another year of hoping he can make the team out of camp with almost no NHL experience to draw upon? Just sit him in the press box while he's healthy so we can see more of Amac/Gudas/Folin?

poop, he might really not crack the roster until 2023 at this rate,

Imho, coming out of camp healthy is far better than his current situation.

I will say, this kind of job security is truly something to behold.

So he's guaranteed to reinjure himself if he plays in the NHL this year?
