Not McDavid, but in the Matthews or Eichel range.

That's not happening. Which isn't a bad thing.

Oh very good then. It’s been a bad day, and I didn’t want to fight. ( But my conscience would have required blood. )

I don't think teams are willing to trade young, established stars for a guy with zero pro experience. There are exceptions (Crosby, McDavid), but I don't think he's one of them. I believe that Hughes will be good, but I'm not sure he's a guaranteed superstar either.

Ron really screwed the Flyers when they got the lottery pick in 2017 and not 2016. They could have had Laine

I don't think Pittsburgh can make a trade with St. Louis, they don't have much to give.

Ok I think you misunderstood the comment thread...We were talking about trading up to get Hughes if the Flyers didn't win. I said I would rather have a young superstar (Hughes) then trade the pick for a 1st and other prospects if I was the Flyers, not trade for a young superstar in the league.

Hughes is not a generation talent, but skating ability is there or just a small bit below McDavid with an amazing shot. He is about the same as Matthews when he was drafted.

Watch this kid play, he will easily be competing with McDavid for the best skater in the league. His edge work is almost unmatched.

Agree on general talent and puck skills...but neither of those guys was only 5'10 (generously) and 160lbs.

How big do you think McDavid and Crosby were when they were drafted?

About 6'9 230 lb?

Or at least bigger than Sanheim (aka "Famine" of the Four Horsemen).

Never said he couldn't grow...but given his older brother as a normal benchmark it wont be much. Can he play bigger than his body?...absolutely! He should be very good, but he'd be the first tiny quasi-generational player in quite some time at that size in a league that is only getting bigger.

I'd take him #1 but if in 10 years he was only top 15-20 centers in the league, I wouldn't be surprised. Getting into that second level tier of Mathews, McKinnon, potentially Eichel would be a masterful feat with that type of challenge. That being said I hope he makes it

He's definitely better looking but I'm still going to go with Laine.
