Never said he couldn't grow...but given his older brother as a normal benchmark it wont be much. Can he play bigger than his body?...absolutely! He should be very good, but he'd be the first tiny quasi-generational player in quite some time at that size in a league that is only getting bigger.
I'd take him #1 but if in 10 years he was only top 15-20 centers in the league, I wouldn't be surprised. Getting into that second level tier of Mathews, McKinnon, potentially Eichel would be a masterful feat with that type of challenge. That being said I hope he makes it - juiced
Again I don't expect him to be a generational talent, Crosby's and McDavid just do not come along that often.
But currently being 5'10 (not generous), growing an inch is not out of the question and currently around 168 it is very possible to get to 180-185. I mean not many superstar talents are that small when drafted....Patrick Kane...Marner who still weights as much as a wet sock. I mean those guys don't become superstars. Now add Hughes skating ability to them and wow. |

No, you had the chance. If you came out and just punched him in the face, you'd be CEO by COB. |

As long as you didn’t piss on him, you should be good.
Unless he’s into that kind of thing, in which case you missed a golden opportunity |

Lesser version of Matthew's. But similar play style imo. - Tfaehner
I wouldn't compare their play styles at all. He is more of a hybrid between McDavid (skating) and Matthews (shot) with high IQ of a franchise player. |

Agree wholeheartedly. Just tend to seize up when the world (not you) starts throwing around McDavid, Crosby, Mathews to always gauge a prospect. Supremely unfair to very good players |

The same was done with Matthews and Eichel during their draft years, neither became their comparisons. They became their own player. |

OK.
You can make one move for the Flyers today. Right now. What is it?
Coaching, players, nothing at all. You choose.
What would you do right now, if anything? |

I think Hughes will come in around MacKinnon as far as superstar prowess. But obviously he is nothing like MacKinnon in gameplay. Matthew's I thought was a descent comparison as far as recent draftees. But you are right hes an elite skater. Top 5 in the league from the moment when he steps on the ice probably.
I also think us even thinking we may get him is misguided. I dont think Scott or Holmgren will accept finishing bottom 5. |

I hate them both then for not dreaming big, I don't want top 5..I want top 1.
Also very good with a MacKinnon type superstar. |
