Agreed. They're making it sound like Patrick is a bust. I had no problem with selecting him then and I have no issue with us selecting him in hindsight. He's going to develop into a good player.

I do think that by trading Schenn Hextall's put a good bit of added pressure on Patrick to immeadiately perform as a top six player however.

This is really a tough situation for young players right now. It's so much easier to gain confidence and find your way in the league when the team is winning and things are going well. It's why I go nuts when people talk about bringing up a bunch of young players, etc. Same thing with Sanhiem. He's progressing very nicely. His defensive game has improved and he's starting to get more aggressive and confident offensively. You don't mess with that right now. Let his continue to do well and after a while, then start giving him more and playing him in tougher situations. It's a process. The quickest way to stunt a young player is to overload him too soon. That's some of what we're seeing with Patrick.

Half the fan base thinks it's time to move on from Simmonds and the other half thinks he's the second coming. He's not going to make everyone happy with what he decides to do with him either way, and that might be the first deal he has to decide on as GM.
- hereticpride

I think there is a middle ground. I think a trade of Simmonds and the risk some think there is with signing him to term has merit. What bothers me is the talk that Simmonds is a PP specialist and isn't a good 5 on 5 player. That nonsense and it comes from uninformed sources. Simmonds is a real good player and if you offer him up at the deadline, he'll be in demand.

Pettersson is hindsight and Patrick will be a damn good player.

Kings could've drafted Giroux instead of Lewis. Every team has their regrets.

Valerie Camillo. She is the head of business operations for the flyers and wells Fargo. She previously served in a similar title for the Washington nationals. Essentially they took all of Holmgren business operations responsibilities away from him hes strictly hockey now.

It's after the fact. It was a consensus that Patrick and Hirschier were neck and neck for first overall. I think this is being invented. I don't like how Holmgren has conducted himself lately and decision he has made lately, but this doesn't pass the smell test.

sure doesn't

None of these had Pettersson higher than 5

Yep. They messed around and now Dave Scott wants the on-ice fixed, but I'd like to be the fly on the wall when somebody tells him the truth: This season is gonna be tough to salvage and they need a couple of breaks for next season to look different, new coach or not

Bottom line: They probably need four more pieces - goaltender who can put up a .915/2.55, top 4 defenseman (preferably RH), tough No. 3 center, and scoring winger if you keep Giroux at center and move Simmonds -- and none of those are necessarily gonna be easy to get or have them be productive if they promote from within

Watching LA and jackets. LA’s PK makes the flyers look aggressive. Pp goals then jackets score 30 seconds later on a soft goal. 4-1

I knew Pettersson was a gem, but I still wouldn't of drafted him #2 at the time.

I don't know how the Kings got as bad as they did but they're really tough to watch this year.

3rd goal didn’t track the puck and then collided with his d. 30 seconds later leaked under his arm and in

GAA really isn't that big of a deal, that has more to do with the team in front, more important to have a goaltender can be reliable and make the saves needed. .915 is pretty average and about what the Flyers have now. If they trade for a goalie they need to be .920+ to even bother giving up assets.

Correct. She took over 100% of the business operations and it was all taken away from homer. Hence him being challenged to improve the hockey club as his only responsibility. I dont expect he will be employed if we have a top 5 pick this year. Which is why I think there is such pressure to improve now and not later.

Same thing for a top 4 caliber RH defenseman. One of the most valuable assets in hockey. The cost to obtain one in a trade is prohibitive. Unless the player is well north of 30 with a big contract. Flyers are much better off continuing to develop defenseman.
