That's not good for Homer. He got demoted.

What is it that he does then?

League average is down to about .905 this season
- dragonoffrost

Yeah I know, but league average doesn't get things done. The scope of things the Flyers need a goaltender to be a .920 type goalie.

Using a skewed .905 means the Flyers have well above average goaltending with Elliott. I doubt anyone would say that.

Same thing for a top 4 caliber RH defenseman. One of the most valuable assets in hockey. The cost to obtain one in a trade is prohibitive. Unless the player is well north of 30 with a big contract. Flyers are much better off continuing to develop defenseman.

I think it goes back to the team in front of him. Not many goalies would have a good Pk SV% playing on the Flyers. Elliott's 5 on 5 SV% is very good.

Correct. She took over 100% of the business operations and it was all taken away from homer. Hence him being challenged to improve the hockey club as his only responsibility. I dont expect he will be employed if we have a top 5 pick this year. Which is why I think there is such pressure to improve now and not later.

I agree that team in front of a goaltender dictates a lot. So what can the Flyers do in front of the new goaltender they get?

Well, at some point, he's gonna be gone regardless -- he's not getting any younger

I like Homer, think he gets a bad rap. But he's no spring chicken

I do wonder exactly how much pressure Holmgren will put on fletcher. Will he force him into a bad deal? Time will tell. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if something big does happen.

Something substantial will happen. Otherwise they would've left Hextall in place.

Yea but what is going to happen until then and what are we going to be stuck with. It is ridiculous that they are just 4 points out of the playoffs. That is the only thing Comcast is looking at and that is going to be the incentive for fletcher to put together some hasty trades

Comcast customer service sucks...I called during a Flyer game earlier this year and told them the Flyers look slow. I asked politely for them to send a reset to the team to see if that corrected the problem and they hung up on me.
