Agreed, there is no urgency to trade Keith at this point. The Hawks aren't a playoff team and trading a player of Keith's stature and resume in December to get back an insignificant 2nd round pick is just not the right thing to do. If he wants to go he will make the front office well aware and they will accomodate him.
And there is a load of injuries to defenceman around the league so holding out for max return is what a good GM would do. - RickJ

Assuming that trade is keith to Montreal? I think hawks can get more and desperate is phily to make the playoffs plus toronto there time is this season and next to win a cup cannot keep everyone ala hawks - Scott1977
I do not see Keith moved until a descent offer is made. Hudon. Is he worth trading for. Probably not. We have tons dmen prospects, so to get another dman is really not what Bowman should consider.
Which is more important if you trade Keith: the quality of a prospect or how high a draft choice. Probably neither.
In terms of helping the team:you want as strong a cast around the kids you bring in on defense this year and next. Do not put all kids in top roles all the time. Keith should stay here for a while. But his declining skill sort of worries me. Will be interesting if an overpay at trade deadline, does Keith go? There is this no trade clause he must waive. So there needs to be a lot of things happen if you really do move him |

Hudon is a forward that can play either wing, a gritty player that can score. Maybe you can make it a conditional 1st round pick if the Canadians advance past the 2nd round.

Be nice if hunter could replace bowman hope bowman is gone before any major trades are made. |

I think if core players are moved, we need picks and/or prospects, but forwards prospects. We got up and coming defense and goaltenders up the wazoo. |

What you need back in return for core players with championship pedigree is hockey players and real good ones. Draft picks don't skate and prospects are just that - may bes for down the road. |

That’s exactly what Hudon is, although probably not more than a high end bottom six and special teams player. |

Hudon is the type of guy you get with a 4th round pick or later. Guy took 5 years to finally make the Habs roster.
I would take picks way before a guy like Hudon. |

Hudon sucks and has little or no value around the league which is also the equivalent of a 4th round pick. |

How do you define real good, and depending on your definition of a real good hockey player and why would a contending team want to part with such a player for a player in decline.
Contenders trade to improve their team’s chances to win not the opposite. |

He’s 24 and ended up with 10g and 20A in his rookie season last year and I didn’t advocate him alone it was him and a 2nd or a conditional 1st round pick. |

All you need to look back at is what Tampa gave up to acquire Ryan McDonagh even tho they knew the Rangers intended to rebuild; what Pittsburgh gave up for Phil Kessel. Plenty of other trades like when Minny wanted Martin Handel and San Jose went after Evandet Kane when the internet boards decided he was toxic and had no trade value.

Barkov hattrick in a OT win vs Maple Leaves (learn to spell Toronto) and Dahlin 1 G, 2A in a shootout loss to Washington. Barkov 3rd overall pick and I’d argue a Top 5 overall center in the league at only 23. Here’s hoping the Hawks land a talent like that next June. |

Rockford surrendered 52 sog in 3-2 loss to the Texas team. Blackhawks have their own problems; so too does Rockford have their own issues. But Forsberg was in net and was a choice as a star in the game. Figure Rutta didn't help much.
The best dman prospects i believe are improving and they will probably get a cup of coffee pending in Chicago. Among the Icehogs problems are no legitimate offensive center (sorry L Johnson) and too many ECHL. Lots of youth on defense too. I guess that J Schroeder isn't providing enough veteran offensive help - something I thought Bowman wanted to fix insofar as making Rockford competitive |
