Does that justify him anchored to Matthews and Tavares the past 3 years? Do you know how many easy goals he's missed because he lacks finsih?
This team is stacked. Why use someone like that in the top 6? - RogerRoeper
I don't disagree that he's missed his chances at times, he certainly doesn't have the finish of some of the more polished offensive guys.
But I am a big proponent of the balanced lineup. Having him on the 1st or 2nd lines while having someone like Kappy, Marleau, or Nylander slotted further down makes the lineup that more dangerous top to bottom - as long as they are getting the minutes.
To me the Leafs can essentially roll 3 scoring lines and 1 grind line.
Johnsson Matthews Nylander
Hyman JT Marner
Marleau Kadri Kapanen
Ennis Gauthier Lindholm
Speed pretty much up and down the lineup. Good balance IMO

I will say that on paper, TB's D looks amazing, but in reality, I didn't see anything there that stood out besides Hedman, who's such a smooth skating freak of nature.
Not saying they don't have a better D core than ours, which they do, but I think the margin of difference in today's NHL for the purpose of eliminating scoring chances and reducing zone time is very slim.
There's just really only so much you can get away with nowadays in your own end. - gravyface

From what I saw I thought Sergachev had a decent game as well. |

Yes to Johnsson or Brown, no to Kapanen.
I would not be opposed to one of Brown or Johnsson, a prospect, and our 1st rounder this year/next year being moved.

Youre right, its not close offensively. Ennis is better.
This year.
E - 29gp - 9pts
L - 32gp - 9pts
Overall career:
E - 0.52 pts per game
L - 0.34 pts per game
Defensively, leivo is more physical.

Can't see Dubas trading a 1st away. Loves his picks too much.
Also, don't really see why we need to trade for a dman. The way our forwards play, leaving the D out to hang often, will not get solved by trading for a dman.
It's really hard for any player, be it Hainsey or Burns, to have to attempt 10 stretch passes through 3 opposing players, per game.
Leafs should concentrate on their strengths and live with their weakness (as every team has). But implement a system that can help minimize their weakness. |

Johnsson.
Brown not worth enough. Decent PK, good speed, works hard, doesn't have the offensive upside of the other two. Other teams will want more.
Kapanen is two years younger than Johnsson, showing good development, important part of the PK, needs to stick around to keep Nylander happy. Keep him if we can in this kind of deal. |

You need to give us one of your Finnish players to maintain the balance though.

What weakness does tampa have? Overall, they look good top to bottom. Both lebrun and bmac have said the leafs are actively looking for a dman. What type dunno (1, 2, 3 or 4) yet.
He may like picks but he likes to win as well, id he can improve the team, he will.

I dont mean just brown alone, but some package including him.
I dont want to trade kap either, but for the right offer he should be available ..it just has to be an overpay imo |

Yeah Tampa's pretty good. I thought that Stamkos non-call changed the game-script a bit but Leafs found out what they're all aboot last night. |

Nylander's physicality has actually impressed me in the few games he's been back. I've seen him push a few players off along the boards and not shy away like he has in the past. |
