Yeah, the 50ish shots they gave up last night proved that. The Leafs never had any problems in the offensive zone, other than that damned goalie...

fair enough, but take Hedman off that team.. Which d-man scares you?
- PatC80

McDonagh is very good.

If you take away Reilly, what would the Leafs have?

Gardiner?

Who Tampa isnt?
I think they are on par with the leaf toughness. Imo
I suppose they could use more grit.
Skilled grit, but who couldn't

- Fakepartofme

I think Tampa is way more gritty and heavier JMO

I like z as a good number 5 guy.. his contract and our lack of depth makes him slight unpalatable.. but if the kept him and liligren could push him down in 2-3 years it’d be ideal.. his cap hit is high for a #5 guy but he is playing as our 3-4
- Puck-us-all

Number 5 sure.
But hes played and paid too much imo

I respectully disagree, I think they are much better.

Add to that Vasilevsky, who might be the best goaltender in the world right now.... They are scary good.

And that's no knock on the Leafs who may very well be the 2nd best team in the NHL.

- Scabeh

They have the best goalie in the league back, which helps a lot. Last night's game, we were the better team.. We just made more mistakes and repeatedly ran into a brick wall.

Stamkos plays pretty gritty for an elite sniper, I think anyways ..

So is Kucherov....

Tampa's PK was pretty good last night too....almost seemed like they had 5 guys on the ice.

Stralman's injured too. Hence Cernak (who is their "Dermott" fyi).

Im not easily scared, so not a fair assessment lol

But, yes..Im not saying their D is amazing, but overall they're pretty good imo.
A little better than the leafs. But not by leaps and bounds.

So if the puck is being banged around in the crease you're allowed to just push the opposing player into the net and knock it off?

Good rule.

Ref's suck, only time we seem to get a call is a stick in the face or a puck fired over the glass.

1 call last night on Stammer for a cross check...other then that the rest of the night was junk. JMO

They are both better offensively, then defensively. The both are not very physical. Gardiner's mistakes just seem to be more egregious.

Great when he has the puck and keeps his feet moving.

Terrible in our end without the puck, seems to get watching the puck and is slow getting back to his position.

Both teams are stacked with talent, I just think TB plays a meaner/tougher game when they need to.
