Ultra HD cam from outer space for the Kucherov goal....give me a (frank)ing break...time for Andersen to start wearing black catcher and blocker. - Garnie
Yeah, I didn't think the call on the ice was going to be overturned.

Yeah I find that rule stupid.
When do refs ever not blow the whistle when they see the puck in the goalies glove?
Should fall under the rule where the refs “intended” to blow the whistle.

Tampa is almost as weak defensively as we are.. We out-shot them 49-21.. If not for 4 posts and Vasilevskiy, we would have won the game. - PatC80
That's what I'm saying.
Now, who knows, they might've had a bad game, but you'd think they'd be amped up with Vaseline back, at home, best vs. best, etc.
I'm not saying TB's D played really bad, but we dominated the entire game, drew a ton of penalties (0-7!), it could've easily been a rout by the second period.
I just don't think trading from our strengths to be more balanced on paper really would've changed anything at all, nor do I think this game proved much beyond their goalie was good last night, ours not so much. |

Yeah, that's pretty much it, except we made a few more mistakes then Tampa did. When you out-shoot your opponent 49-21, 9 times out of 10, you'll win the game.

We did dominate but they had some great opps too...scored on them and missed a wide open cage or 2. |

Meh.. Outside of Hedman, there's not that much of a difference. - PatC80
I think the Leafs make the top 4 D man acquisition this year. I’d be willing to bet anyone who thinks otherwise.
The rumours are heavy that they have been looking to trade for one and this year there seems to be a few available.
Petro, Parayko, Muzzin and possibly even Vatanen(NJ should make him available)
They were in heavy on McDonagh last year according to the rumours...TB outbiddes them unsurprisingly. This year TB simply can no afford to add a D with any term whatsoever. I think TB is the team to trade for Alex Edler though....they get VAN to retain half his salary.
Anyways, the Leafs are top in line to get these D men. With TB a pretty much out of the question I think it’s Toronto’s turn.

It was a good first tilt between the two...the Leafs showed TB they can play their style of game. This series could go either way if it happened.
Vasiline showed up and Freddie didn’t...but it could easily be the other way around next game where TB dominates and Freddy steals the game.
Leafs also showed up for the Moms...I think the same thing happens this Saturday. Another 50 shots coming. |

The Leafs completely dominated the Lightning last night but were shutdown by, let's be honest, if not Vasilevskiy's best performance - one of his top 2-3 ever.
Sometimes you dominate and nothing goes in and the other team gets the puck luck.
It was frustrating to watch but if the Leafs play like they did last night against Tampa they beat them 9 times out of 10. |

I think so too..
I could see Dubas making a move for a top 4D. Whether it be Muzzin, or Pesce or someone else. |

Both teams are stacked with talent, I just think TB plays a meaner/tougher game when they need to. - Garnie
I agree, as they can be meaner/tougher and still play their game.

I think St.Louis will be the team.
It’s just a perfect fit, much like TB seas last year for Mcd.
The Leafs can afford to offer Kapanen or Johnnson. Then just add to it. |

I would absolutely make that bet with you, but i don't know how we would clarify a top 4 dman. There are some that are obvious. And then others that aren't.

I dont believe it will be a top 2 dman, but for sure a move for 3-5 dman will be made. If the trade works for the leafs. |

Based on the cam angles the audience saw, agreed. But once you saw what the league was allowed to see, it was an easy decision to overturn.
Sucks, but what can you do. |

Yeah, certain D like Zaitzev could go either way.
I mean, I believe the D they acquire will be a pretty clear top 4 D....but there are differences of opinions out there.
I think Gardiner is a clear number 3 but others think he is a bottom 6 |

Well, I guess that all depends on what you consider dominated.
Hard to argue the Leafs weren't the better team last night.
whatever, poop happens. No biggie. If they keep playing like that, there will be no problems. |

Yea it was the right decision. It was making me think though... when the (frank) was the last time the Leafs came out on the positive side of a challenge/review of any sort? I watch almost all games and I can't for the life of me remember a GI review, offiside review, etc going FOR the Leafs?
Is that tracked in anyway? |

I think Dubas is pretty confident in his bottom 4-6...I mean he’s keeping 8 D men. He has been reluctant to waive any even during the Lievo situation.
He said during the offseason he likes his depth on D.
I think he doesn’t like Hainsey where he is. Simply speculation but given the way he thinks and has built his teams in the past Hainsey is no where near the top pairing. |
