I feel that Hitch is a good short term option but will he drive the guys nuts if it’s long term? - RatedR80
What constitutes short term? 1 season? 3 seasons? |

If it continues to work and he wants to stay on, then yeah, do it. - Wildschwein
At worst, keep him in an advisory role to help find a good successor that can apply many of the same lessons as he does. |

Not that I saw. I'd rather keep Benning there for this season as he and Gravel have been lights out together under Hitch. - MaximumBone
I was thinking for next season because I don’t think we can get him for this season

It’s good he plays with Larsson in that regard - RatedR80
His game does appear to elevate when paired with Larsson. Though that can be said of everyone thus far. |

Interesting responses on the Hitchcock question.
What we really need to worry about though isn't about him anyway. Not for the time being.
We still have Chiapet to deal with. Somebody chi-chi-chi-chia his ass into oblivion already!

Although it may be an unpopular opinion, I think Larrson is under rated. Many people think we over paid for him. Yeah we paid out the ass for him, but if your another gm and you know the situation the oilers where in, its a business, wouldnt you play hardball? At the time, we needed a Larrson type player. Im sure he could have made a package of some other prospect and picks. Hes still here , doing a decent job in a top 2 situation. Where as imagine our defence without him. Yes Hall was a stud, but he was risky. He had a reckless style almost where he gets himself banged up. Absolute over payment, but needed none the less. Im sure weve all heard rumours they could have got this guy or that guy. May not get points but I hate to see our top 6 without him. |

The downside of the Oilers doing good is that it provides Chia job security.....double edged sword

I've always thought that Larsson & Nurse form a good mutualistic pairing. If Larsson pushes up, Nurse chillaxes and stays back. And then Vice versa.
TBH, Nurse brings out Larsson's offensive side far better than Klefbom. |

I do not feel comfortable with the man who traded Taylor and Tyler, and lost both trades at the helm of this organisation. Reinhart, Eberlee, Strome,Davidson , trades. I think drai is an overpay, i think her deserves more nylander or looch money. He does well at the small ones, but everynight I fall asleep wondering if tommorow is the day Mcdavid gets traded for magic beans, a half used starbucks card, a roll up the rim loser, and half deck of smokes. |

Wasn't the case for Philly.
Yeah, yeah, I know it was a different situation, but still. Doesn't mean that coaches are ALWAYS the first ones to go.
But firing Chia and hiring Hextall would be awesome. I dream. |

Here is something crazy....they let Chia go and bump Hitch up the ladder and pair him with someone to run the team

The lynch mob would be at his door in no time. Chia has his little gems, I'll give him that, but hes a danger to the organisation because an idiot that doesnt know hes an idiot is a very dangerous person. |

Nurse has stepped up...all credit to him and I hope he keeps it up....what happens tho if he does keep it up for the weeks that Klefbom is gone? Do they entertain letting Nurse keep that spot or does Klef get it right back?

Oh, I misread that. I think?
But yeah, glad to see Nurse succeed.
In the long run though, if Nurse can continue to succeed, I think that Klefbom would probably have to beat him to regain his spot, which isn't a bad thing. That would only benefit this team. In that case, it gives this team options and makes our lineup that much more dangerous.
Having a top 4 corps containing Nurse, Larsson, & Klefbom all blossoming and still not in their primes (around 27-28 for the typical defender) would be a sight to see.
Then with Bouchard, Jones, & possibly Lagesson developing in the AHL/minors...
that defensive corps ain't too shabby. |

My question for everybody is, if we are in a position to be buyers this year. Are they gonna go for an offensive minded puck moving d man, or a firing winger? |
