You are the biggest hypocrite on the board.

Then it's just "jokingly " because you're "a clown"

You can't just discuss/debate the Sabres without insulting other people?

Very childish

You are right Michael.
Overall lacking. Does show some signs occasionally to keep some hope alive.
-Skating is below par, cannot stop nor change directions quickly without losing balance ...making forecheck and backcheck ineffective.
-Is 6'5" and plays like Bambi...even if he fills out and bulks up, his mentality is of a 5'8" 160lb lightweight.

I know many here will jump on me for the 2nd one, but why would someone intentionally throw away an attribute that can accelerate their success. He should be forced to live with Larry in Lockport for the balace of the season and grow some angry balls.

Thompson is getting better. I'm not sure if he'll ever develop into a 50-60 point winger, but if they teach him to use his size and stick length advantage as a checking forward, I could see him as a 3rd line, 30-40 point guy on the 2nd PP, with an ability to step in a 2nd line role when needed.

I would eventually like to see them try him on the PK. That reach of his could be very beneficial

it doesn't take away from the fact that his overall game is lacking

His lacking overall game is still better than guys with almost 0 upside

Good post
Better television

- Boss34

I had to take a shot dude.
I never saw the relevence of attending the game in person as a better sight-line for game analysis.
I used to attend in person 20-25 games for years...frankly, I feel I can see more detail on TV now...if caught by the camera obviously....but with technology today, nearly everything is caught. The atmosphere is the only big difference in my mind.

Anyway...Sam is delivering the goods this year, not nearly perfect as evidenced by him giveaways...but he is producing well with Jack and Skins. Last year, after December, he produced well away from Jack with ROR.
He isn't the problem, nor hix he a god as some seem to want to project.

I don’t dislike McCabe at all, think he’s very solid, but he also could be a key piece to get a top 6/9 forward.

The left side of the defense is going to be

Dahlin getting 25+ minutes
Pilut getting 18-20
Guhle

McCabe is probably worth more to another team than he is to us on an bigger contract.

I’d even be fine trying to find a RD to play with Dahlin, because we know that isn’t Bogosian long term

I think it's great for the league to have 3 of the top 6 teams from canada and 1 of them buffalo.

Passionate fan bases+success is much more likely to draw new fans than watching a team based in the desert with fans that probably can't spell or pronounce Marchessault correctly go to the finals

He’s also a fine skater.

Dude has played only 65 NHL games. He ain’t going to Rochester

Thompson was dominant at even strength during his time in the AHL last year. There's nothing to be gained by sending him back.

I agree

What Mittelstadt and Thompson need is experience to know what works at the NHL level.

As for the skating, he has good speed at full stride, but he's not quick off the block. That's where he needs to learn how to use his size and stick to his advantage. So yeah, he needs time and experience

Surely, I don't disagree with your points.
I just see a guy like that and think he is a project; and mentally make a T-chart on what could make him the best he can be by improving his shortfalls...which in my mind is his skating...watch him next game...if it aint a straight line, he struggles badly ... which on a PK would hurt his efficiency and effectiveness...one has to be pretty strong skater..he isnt.
I'm not saying he has to be Pronger out there...but holy crap...look in the mirror dude..you are 6" taller than 90% ofvthe league...use you god-given traits to your advantage.
Somebody on he staff has to get to him about this.

In a straight line, after he s up to speed sure.
He is off balance 90% of the time on the forecheck, rendering that part of his game as a liability.
Wont get involved physically, rendering his size useless.
He has a nice shot though, no denying that.

which would make sense if the nhl was actually on hardwood floors and physicality was punished.

Of course, in that scenario, Thompson is a swingman in the NBA.

Thompson has the likeability factor in my opinion.

1. Big shot
2. Unique toe drag move
3. Shoot first mentality
4. Young and improving
5. Size

Seems humble as well

Reinhart will never make an all nhl hockey team.

He can be a top 20 winger in the nhl though as the last 65 or so games have shown.

Nothing more
Nothing less

Could be a legit 60 point player when he matures

Could be our next Eric Rasmussen

I hope he is nothing like Eric

In all honesty, besides Skinner and Reinhart, what winger on this team would you take over Thompson for the next 5 years?

I generally re watch the games that night or the next day.

In person you can really focus on certain players.
That's my debate with reinofan:

You can really watch sam stand around and do next to nothing for the whole game in person. He makes a few good plays, they look great on the highlights.

Especially early in the year. Cameras can lie.

Eichel just completely drives the entire team, shift in and shift out. More so in person. In my opinion

Eichel has been an absolute monster this year.

And I think he was banged up after the Vancouver game for a week or so

There is another level to Eichel's game and once he gets that level look out, but seriously if the Sabres finish top 3 in the East he should be in the conversation for the Hart.

The one thing he needs to pay attention to since he started being more physical are those cross checking guys face first into the boards. He is going to get labels as a dirtier player.

As far as Thompson goes, his skating isn't going to improve by going the AHL, he isn't going to learn a physicality side to his game by going to the AHL.

He belongs here, he has proven he has a worth in the lineup and like you have said he has only played 65 NHL games.

I would really like to see him with Mittelstadt and a guy like Kessel one day.

Speed, skill, shot on one line.

As far as Reinhart goes and the "turnovers" everybody has bad turnovers, it happens shift in shift out, it's called hockey. Eichel turns the puck over, Skinner turns the puck over, Dahlin turns the puck over, Erod (is a turnover machine), however because some posters obsess with Reinhart they notice them more.

There isn't a player in the game that is immune to turnovers. Some people for some reason just like to pick this guy a part for some reason (probably because he was the 2nd overall pick). It's obsessive.

There are plenty of other players that can be picked a part and rightfully so (Okposo and Sheary come to mind).

Enjoy the ride everyone, this team is still far from a finished product but will only improve.
