Thompson has the likeability factor in my opinion.
1. Big shot
2. Unique toe drag move
3. Shoot first mentality
4. Young and improving
5. Size
Seems humble as well - Boss34
Hands....he's got some good deke moves.

Could be a legit 60 point player when he matures
Could be our next Eric Rasmussen
I hope he is nothing like Eric - homiedclown
It kinda feels like tage is] the current baptiste or bailey:
Not necessarily his play, but the hope of a young guy making a difference

Murray and Darcy sucked at drafting |

Tage was a 1st round pick
Baptiste and Bailey were not though
But yes Murray and Darcy didn't hit in the later rounds which championship teams tend to do |

There is another level to Eichel's game and once he gets that level look out, but seriously if the Sabres finish top 3 in the East he should be in the conversation for the Hart.
The one thing he needs to pay attention to since he started being more physical are those cross checking guys face first into the boards. He is going to get labels as a dirtier player.
As far as Thompson goes, his skating isn't going to improve by going the AHL, he isn't going to learn a physicality side to his game by going to the AHL.
He belongs here, he has proven he has a worth in the lineup and like you have said he has only played 65 NHL games.
I would really like to see him with Mittelstadt and a guy like Kessel one day.
Speed, skill, shot on one line.
As far as Reinhart goes and the "turnovers" everybody has bad turnovers, it happens shift in shift out, it's called hockey. Eichel turns the puck over, Skinner turns the puck over, Dahlin turns the puck over, Erod (is a turnover machine), however because some posters obsess with Reinhart they notice them more.
There isn't a player in the game that is immune to turnovers. Some people for some reason just like to pick this guy a part for some reason (probably because he was the 2nd overall pick). It's obsessive.
There are plenty of other players that can be picked a part and rightfully so (Okposo and Sheary come to mind).
Enjoy the ride everyone, this team is still far from a finished product but will only improve. - Stripes77
Erod has been awful with his turnovers.. real ugly ones.
The ones that bug me are in the defensive zone when you're not under pressure and you just assume a teammate is in the space you're gonna send it without taking a look first.
Turnovers happen, no doubt, but bad turnovers are still bad turnovers. |

I agree.
And your last post was very articulate.
The eichel from hit from behind was pretty bad.
You can see he feels bad immediately.
You're right though, he might be denting his reputation
Would you say 2 or 5 on the hit? |

That should have been a 2 last game.
The one against Tampa he was lucky he didn't get tossed from the game. |

agreed, but until they move one or more of pommer, Sobotka or Berglund, Thompson's waiver-exempt status makes him a prime candidate to be sent to Rochester...might not be right, but it's a distinct possibility and i'm ok with it for this season

I have a hunch berglund stubs his toe or becomes allergic to his uniform soon
LTIR
The article I read :said tage is living with dahlin and mitts.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but he seems like a guy that's safe.
Living with young core guys. He's also been a big part of winning this season.
I agree with your waiver eligibility point as well.

Erod also draws penalties at a super high clip and has 10 points through 26 games. That production is sorely needed in the bottom 6. Not to mention his speed. He is an opportunity generator from the bottom 6, which we have almost none of. And his shot assists are terrific |

housley likes the kid and likes how he's developed so far this season but there really aren't a lot of places in the lineup for him...highly doubtful he makes it to the top line and he's extremely miscast on the fourth line...sheary's a lock in the middle six and Okposo ain't going anywhere...leaves one of two possibilities in the sabres lineup

Thompson looked like a man amongst boys in the prospect tourney. He is really smooth for a guy his height. He will continue to fill out his frame in the coming years. He has good hands and a heavy shot. He’s not producing right now but he can be a 2nd line RW for us for a long time when he gets the experience and puts it together
Mittelstadt just absolutely toyed with everyone at the WJC last year and in both WJC summer showcases over the past 2 years. He was playing high school hockey a year and a half ago he is very raw. You can see glimpses of his playmaking ability and he also has an underrated shot. When the light comes on I really think he can be a poor mans Brayden Point. Yes I was expecting more off the bat but then again he doesn’t get much PP time and doesn’t have the benefit of playing with our best players. Watching him against guys his own age he dominated play like a Patrick Kane. Sooner or later he will get the confidence and go from there. |

Pommer feels safe to me.
I Might be playing the homer card.
Maybe he rides off into the sunset at the end of the year
Sobotka/ erod/ girgs maybe rotating
Wilson coming back.
Ellie should definitely be looking over his shoulder

My lineup when Wilson/Berglund come back would be:
Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart
Sheary-Mittelstadt-Thompson
Wilson-Erod-Okposo
Berglund-Larsson/Girgs-Sobotka
Girgs/Larsson
Pominville
Pominville is shifting toward a depth role. He played 7 minutes against LA. Erod and Wilson both play C, so shift accordingly. I don't care about Elie |

Sobotka really doesn't do much for me, except in a defensive role...interesting to note that those three players, along with angry larry, form buffalo's top penalty killing forwards

I really like: erod- angry larry- girgs
Tad bit of everything
I noticed eichel out there late in the pk. Coaches might be taking a look?
Sabres have a really likeable group of guys.

Gnarley post 🤙🏻
Silky Mitts will fill one of the shoes Connolly left. If he works with Eichel maybe he’ll become the player we all hope for.
Tage imo stands out for more positives than negatives
Dahlin is the guy who I probably am a harder critic on than others but he can make me cringe than wow me in a matter of seconds.
Nylander will replace Okposo by years end. |

Karlsson and Hedman were still in Sweden at the age of 18. I think we could not only be talking about Dahlin as the best defenseman in the league in a few years but up there with McDavid as the best player in the world. I really think he can be the Lidstrom of his time. |
