More Johnson on MacEwen: There will come a time when he gets an opportunity. Rest assured, his time is coming eventually. Jim and Travis are well aware of his early success and we want to keep building on it..but I also think we haven't hit the ceiling with Zach

Ryan Johnson on Zach MacEwen: The evolution of him as a player is a perfect example of what development is about...the kind of steps we want to see players take @UticaComets

Ryan Johnson on Demko: Our fans in Vancouver will see the way he plays the puck is like a third defenseman. He breaks the puck out as well as I've seen in my time, in my current position or as a player. I've never seen a goalie play the puck as well as he does @UticaComets

I was a bit confused with RJ, thought he was saying there was no rush with Palmu, it was ok for him to sit, big bad ahl and all that, and then when Palmu leaves, he said it is good for his development to be playing.

I didn't realize Demko handled the puck like that.

curious to see what ZacMac will look like with the Canucks. We need more size.

am I the only one who gets nervous whenever EP is along the boards?

Yes, I don’t get nervous at all when EP is along the boards. He has been playing against men for 2.5 years

Good hockey game and better road trip after the long losing streak. Looking like a lottery team as everyone predicted. At least the entertainment level is up a few notches

I think there were/are too many vets in Utica - but there's also 5-6 rookies so i'm sure it's tough too balance. That being said, Palmu didn't get much opportunity/ice time and when he did they'd stick him on the 4th line with guys like Darcy, Bancks, Woods, Arseneau, Gardiner - kinda setting him up to fail. Obviously, he's a long shot but his deployment/development wasn't great. I was reading an article about how RJ and TC handled the re-signing of vets/management of prospects in the summer poorly.

Yeah EP scares me a little on the boards, but he's hyper aware of his surroundings and I'm noticing him taking and giving hits more often lately. He's figuring things out.

Johnson said the other day that players that haven't gotten a lot of minutes was because of injury or they have not proved they deserve it yet. He said their main goal is still to win and other players further along we getting the development.

sometimes he looks tentative when there is a little puck battle along the boards and then all of a sudden he has the puck.

I just worry about the kid, he is so slight. but to his credit, he is crafty

Trade some trash and scrubs at the TDL and call up a few kids and the team could go deep. Super excited!!

The problem with Culls statement is they were consistantly losing with their "vets" in the lineup while scratching their rookies AND the guys who are so called further in their development - Darcy, Camerenessi, Woods, Bancks, McMaster, Carcone - will never play in the NHL.

I get that Lind, Gadj and Palmu haven't gotten off to the starts we all hoped for and injuries and call ups have further stalled that process but theres some Tom-F$ckary going on as well.

Thanks Carol.

I think the game changed for Vancouver when 7 minutes into the 3rd period Virtanen went hard on the forecheck and tried to throw a bit hit. After that, the pressure started.

They were really lacklustre through 2 periods. 12 shots and 10 hits. That's very sad.

JV standing up for Bo after that awkward hit was probably my favourite moment of the night

winning is nice, but yeah, thought the reason why we got the comets was to develop players, sounds like we are still affiliated with the Chicago wolves or whoever we were before, when the youth wasn't playing.

and I guess the club loses face if these guys spend some time in the echl. nuts

Well I'm not sure how many are going to be offended by this post, but I thought Boeser played like absolute crap last night.

Yes an absolute beautiful goal, but he wasn't interested in back checking, wasn't interested in fighting for the puck, couldn't make a pass in any zone. I sure hope it was an off night, although from what I have been watching of him lately I hope it changes quickly.

He’s our version of Laine, doesn’t do much besides score goals. Thankfully he scores a lot of them.

The #Canucks have signed 20-year-old RHD, Mitch Eliot. He played 1.5 years at Michigan State before moving to the OHL for more ice last season.

Two-way guy, good skater. Doesn’t wow you with one trait, but has a good overall package.

A win for the “claim them all crowd”
