I had hoped that Berglund could come in here and be a good veteran leader for the young players to follow. Apparently that was a misguided hope. Now, the question is, How does GMJB get out from under that contract and if he does, Who does that open up a roster spot for? C.J. Smith maybe? |

This makes the trade look even better for Botts. Calculated and brilliant. More money to give to Dahlin |

No reason to celebrate - the guy is still on our books and isn't going anywhere. Worse he now looks to be a malcontent. I hated his inclusion in that trade. |

. In 23 games for Buffalo Berglund has scored only four points (2+2) and he's played in only nine of the Sabres last 17 games with zero points and a minus-8 rating to show for it.
The team had no further comment.
I'm curious what your thoughts are about this, or what your impressions are of him in general |

I think he was a necessary piece for roster and cap space |

capfriendly has them at $55M on 13 contracts leaving them some $24M in capspace using this year's ceiling |

@slumpbuster. No cash no cap hit while he’s suspended |

I think his game was more suited to the western conference...a little too slow and not enough finish to play in a scorers role here but I thought he did well on the fourth line in a defensive role...he just didn't seem to fit in with this club as constructed...
that said, I was surprised to hear of his suspension as pretty much everything I've read and heard led me to believe he was a pro...
depending upon what happens, could be a blessing for this club in terms of the roster and the salary cap

Yeah, that's the weird part, right? I get being a malcontent on a bad team, but he's making good money and playing on a good team. It's not as though he's been the only one scratched, either. Girgs, Erod, Elie and he have all been scratched.
I remember after they moved him off center, he said something to the effect of "I'm more comfortable on the wing." So he got his wish there. If he wanted a bigger role, he could have embraced the center assignment. He was still recently on the PP, too.
This team is winning and has a good vibe. It's odd to have a malcontent in their midst

with his lack of speed, and lack of flash he needs to go all out on each shift to be noticed on the ice
I never saw that drive from him this season, just going through the motions

Like everybody else I was hoping for more from Berglund. I thought he could score maybe 10-15 goals and maybe be a 30 point guy. Hopefully this will let Buffalo get out from his contract. Looks like the Sabres will be better off without him. |

What the hell do they do now? Captain Jack can't be happy with him, nor the entire lockerroom.
I wouldn't mind if they waived him and scratched him in the A |

A lot of the young Swedes followed his lead too. So from a leadership stand point it’s tough to see. |
