If we were fortunate enough to be able to terminate Bergulands contract, our next move should be to waive Sobodka. If he clears, he's probably going back to Europe.
That would be huge.

Then they can trade Thompson, lol...oh the return they would net ROR.

I don't mind having Thompson on the team. We took those two back because we had to. Just having the cap space might allow us to address an area of need through a trade or something. We still have veteran leadership through Bogo, Pommenville, hutton, etc. We just really really dont need any more underachieving old guys.

Should be on the sale rack any day now. Might as well get it cheaper!

Agreed, no doubt on the cap space.
Sobotka doesnt piss me off like Berglund did/does.
I'm ok with Tage for now, willing to give him more time to develop.
That said, I'm not expecting much to happen honestly.
Hopefully I'm wrong.

I must admit that I was taken back by the Berglund news.
I hope that he is alright.
He may be going through a rough time period in his life for reasons that none of us are privy.

I wish him well.

- Over50

If that were the case, i don't think the Sabres would have suspended him

He's just going through a "doesn't want to be a healthy scratch anymore" period of his life

Tage Thompson is Legit......he's getting better, he's young, my evaluation is a poor-man's Thomas Vanek, even reminds me of him often. I'm not suggesting he has or will ever have Vanek's skill level, but they skate and play very similar, I like Thompson and a 1st Rd pick for Mr. I've lost my love of the game, ROR,

ROR needed to go, I'd say the SABRES are better without him, by about last place to top five in the league, so I really don't care how well he plays for St. Louis, he played well here as well, he's just not a fit for a Winning Culture, ie., Colorado, Buffalo, but hopefully he can play for the love of the game for St.Louis to get the 11th overall pick

why give up 14.5 when you can have 14.5M+60M. obviously he had a strong conviction Not to go back to Pittsburgh... no telling if Burgy feels the same way, but not showing up sure says he does.

Injuries. Look at the list of star players who have torn ACL’s. Also as a RB this is his only chance at cashing in.

If his failure to report amounts to a “material breach” of his contract then the Sabres have the right to terminate him today. There’s a good deal of mystery surrounding why he hasn’t played or practiced in the last week, but he is obligated to provide his “best services” to the team. The suspension is a chance for the team and the player to try to come to an agreement as to how to resolve this. Under the right circumstances, I could see the Club being able to terminate right now.

If they thought they could they would have. Don't get me wrong - it might end up that way. I Just find it hard to believe that he would leave that money on the table. If he wanted to go home he probably would have just told them that.

You’re the one who just said he’s not gonna leave money on the table, right? He’s going home, with whatever money he can take with him. The Sabres aren’t airtight, and would rather have a defined outcome than a chance of being wrong

Phil Housley on suspended Patrik Berglund: "From my knowledge talking to the medical staff, he was ill. So we handled it that way. Obviously, it developed into something different. Jason and the management are handling that."

One of Sabres' sayings is "all in." Housley's thoughts on a player apparently not being all in by failing to report: "I'm not going to comment on that. We’re going to focus on the guys in the locker room. We’ve got a big game tonight against a great opponent."

It's coach speak, sure, but the way this team is charging forward as one this year, it's a near impossibility he ever returns. The bridge is burnt. Send him back to Camp O'Reilly.

Good, you totally missed the point but whatever... I'd bet he won't ever be back in the sabres lineup.

I'll eat my hat if he goes home and leaves all that money on the table. It' won't happen.

I'd take that bet.... how would you handle walking back into the locker room after you basically quit on your teammates, Think they are going to welcome you back? Remember these are Athletes with ego's... Im sure he gave the money part a lot of thought before he decided not to report.

I think Botts is probably negotiating with his agent right now and they are looking at other NHL teams where he could get a fresh start. Package Berglund up with Scandella (to give room for Pilut) and we actually might get something half decent in return.

This is what I’m confused about though.

He was “sick” before the game day skate, technically before he would even know he’s scratched
