Article on the athletic quoting Eichel on burgland. “We’re worried about the guys that are in the room,” Eichel said.
Also
The Sabres could try to alleviate any concerns Berglund has with the organization and/or city, but he would have a lot of explaining to do once he walked back into the dressing room.
“Obviously, he’s not here with us, so that will be dealt with by management,” Eichel said. “Right now we’re just limiting our focus to on ice. The message to the guys in the room was just focus on our task at hand, and that’s playing hockey games.”
My take, we are Never going to see burgland in a sabres Jersey again |

At this point of the game, yes. If he had concerns they should have been voiced as soon as he got here. Not 25ish games into the season. I think he has sour grapes that he wasn't getting the playing time he wants so now he's trying to take his ball and go home. Doesn't work that way.
Clearly either him or his agent messed something up that there wasn't a list submitted to the league for his modified NTC. So this whole mess is on them at this point. St. Louis and Buffalo did nothing wrong.
The article says that if the Sabres were to void the contract (which at this point they have grounds to do), that they'd probably have to battle the players union. When this happened with Richards/LA, they ended up coming to some sort of agreement where his contract was terminated still, but they are still paying him each season until at least 2024-2025. The amount varies from year to year though. |

I get what you're saying, but it's not that easy. There's more to this story in terms of the NTC and all that.
In a lot of these types of cases, even though the Sabres are not at fault in any way, they'd still likely end up settling with him because no matter what, the NHLPA will file a grievance.
I guess what our management has to decide, is if it's worth paying him smaller amounts possibly over a longer period of time or if they can convince him that things aren't that bad and to play out his contract.
Personally, I'd rather they terminate it. Even if we end up paying a few hundred thousand dollars over the next however many years. If he only had this year and next year I'd maybe think otherwise, but that 3rd year is where I start to wonder if it's worth it to just get out from underneath now. |

Ya, this is totally on Berglund if the info/details we have heard is accurate.
Tampa is being sued by the PA on behalf of Koekoke (sp) for voiding his contract when he showed up to Training Camp out of shape.
Here, the guy quit on the team, failed to report for practice and trip for road game, and apparently faked being sick to miss a couple games.
Especially since the contract is relatively pricy for his production, and rather long given his age...I would hold a hard line If I was the Sabres and go full throttle on voiding that contract, without paying one red cent. F him. Reluctantly, give him one year pay just to be done with it. |

Yeah, i like that. If we can eat this year's cap hit and avoid the rest in a settlement, that would be a pretty decent deal |

you need help, 1 issue and you banish players. You're a joke loserGM34 - SABRES 89
Help wanted -
Seriously are you an adult?
Again with the name calling.
Duschane is riding in a uber with the youngest guys on the team, bagging on the coaches. Drunk.
Sounds like a great fit. Just what the Sabres need.
Maybe he can wear #10 and use berglunds locker too.

I wish there was more information available on the Richards contract settlement without having to really dig. I can see what's currently owed to him from now until 24/25 but I don't know what he's already gotten. He was owed like $22.5M when his contract was terminated. I'd be interested to see what the total was he ended up essentially getting so we had a starting point for what we could end up having to pay if they were to settle. |

I would have loved to hear the smack Jack has talked about Davis Payne over the last three weeks regarding the PP. Duchene was wrong place, wrong time. Im sure everyone player in the NHL talks like that behind closed doors. |

"There shouldn’t be concern about this being a tactic used by GMs to get out from under contracts, however. Friedman reported the NHLPA was assured Richards’ termination and subsequent settlement “could not be used as precedent in any future cases.” And Richards’ case was unique in that the 30-year-old center was arrested and subsequently charged with a crime which led to the “material breach” and the termination of his deal." |

They took a 5 yr $6.6 mil recapture penalty from 15/16-19/20 for cap purposes. They will pay Richards $7.7 total between 20/21-31/32.

So if he’s not worth $9M per then what is Skinner worth ? Other teams find a way to pay 2 or more players top $.
If Skinner gets moved at the deadline for just picks/players I can’t help but smell a little bit of Drury/Briere, albeit much different circumstances. |

8.25 per
its not that we don't want to pay him but they need to keep room for Dahlin's 10-12 when his contract is up. |

The part that's interesting here is that obviously there's no cap recapture penalty on Berglund's contract. That's cap money that the Kings are penalized, but he's not getting paid that money. |
