For you there isn't for other people there is. Just because Hayes is a ufa doesn't mean you trade him. Thats just dumb. You take each ufa individually and factor age, contract, production....etc. 99% chance whatever you get for Hayes will not be as good as re-signing him

they basically turned Rick Nash into K'Andre Miller, Ryan Strome and Ryan Lindgren

Keeping Hayes, Zucc and Mcquaid doesn't make this team better. So what is the point?

I just think his trade value is through the roof

and there are a bunch of really good teams in this league who want to acquire that piece that puts them over the edge

Gonna trade him to whoever beats Tampa either on the way to or for the Cup and ruin that pick.

Vegas would sure look a lot better with Hayes instead of Lindberg down the middle

not much

Personally I think Hayes is perfect for that team and I'd like them to pay through the nose for him

I totally get where you're coming from but I like Hayes a lot. It's a tough one.

Hayes will have at least one season as a PPG player. I am calling it now. Do you trade that away?

Great trade. Nash was on his way down, Hayes gets better every year. I just think its totally different scenario. Maybe they get lucky in a trade, I just think we would lose that trade. Wouldn't be able to tell for a couple years anyway though.

Hayes is/will be better than all of them except for maybe McDonagh.

The reality is all the players you mentioned along with Hayes are replaceable. None of these guys are a special or elite talent. Yes they are good, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

We will lose sleep over Hayes in a year or two.

True, but Mac was going to be 30 by the time he was moved. He is flourishing as a second pair guy.

Not if we end up with a draft pick that turns into a stud. It all remains to be seen

No idea what his advanced stats are but just from the eye test Hayes always seems to have great control of the puck. No one on the team can protect the puck or navigate through the neutral zone/into the O zone better than him, which is definitely something we don't have enough of right now

So basically you should trade everyone because they aren't elite? Every year we just trade people until the team is full of elite non tradeable players
