I haven't played that in years, but it was so much fun trading like 4 scrubs for an elite player

So basically you should trade everyone because they aren't elite? Every year we just trade people until the team is full of elite non tradeable players
- mdw7413

No, but in a rebuild this is what you do. This year two of the rebuild. I would be fine if we kept Hayes, but he is also a player that can get a ton back.

The org needs more talent and depth if they are going to compete long term

Not if we end up with a draft pick that turns into a stud. It all remains to be seen
- nyrangers2

If they trade him for a 1st rounder to a contender it is a late round pick at best. I am not saying that is bad but they are trading a known commodity that is trending up for something that is completely unknown. Yeah, they could get the next Tarasenko out of the deal but they could also get the next McIlrath.

Its still a risk. Granted if Hayes is asking for a ridiculous contract trade his ass, imo. if he wants a reasonable contract, he is a guy you keep. He is only 26, gets better every year, and is durable, he will still be going good when the team turns it around.

Oh I know. I was just referencing the mention of getting a draft pick in the package. The draft pick cannot be the highlight of the package. It should be the cherry on top. Hopefully multiple draft picks.

I've never been a big believer in the theory that there are good possession players, good Corsi players, guys that "drive possession"

but I am more inclined now to believe team possession is more important than ever

it is tough to watch a team that never has the puck, it's just awful

Reminds me of the late 90's early 2000's teams. Was so bad.

I just don't think they are as bad as some of the last few games. I don't think they are a playoff team by any stretch, but when they all work hard and the team is confident like during that winning streak, they can win some games and make it enjoyable to watch.

With the Rangers history of drafting guys the last 6-7 years I wouldn’t want draft picks. Give me young players and prospects over draft picks.

I looked back, I didn't see where I said they keep Zuke and McQuaid?
- mdw7413

No, I said that. All UFAs, all gotta go. The future doesn't have them in it.

No, its just dumb. You take each player individually its not black and white. Its like saying everyone who is under contract should stay regardless how bad they are.

Well, unless the Rangers eat salary on some of these deals, who would want some of these guys under contract? Kreider, Zib and Lundqvist. That is about it. Lundqvist, until he says otherwise is non conversation. Nobody wants Strome, Vesey, Smith, Staal, Shattenkirk, Skjei, Vlad. They stink. The Rangers season in the midst of ending. Whatever isn't nailed down has to go, if you're unsure if they can be retained. And in terms of Zucc and Mcquaid, it's age. Sorry. It's not personal, just business.
