Hughes or not, a top 5 pick is awesome.

This is such a wonderful day. I love you all.

- flyer_nutter

Hughes is an immediate impact...others not. It is very easy to turn things around when you are landing a first overall franchise player.

I value several possessions.

Yet I possess few valuables.

Are you saying that he's caused a bunch of coaching changes, or the poor guy has played with lots of coaches?

I almost feel disloyal when I think about what has been constant over the years that the same problems have reared their heads.

Ovechkin:

Glen Hanlon
Bruce Boudreau
Dale Hunter
Adam Oates
Barry Trotz

Either 5th coach is the charm, or guys who spend their entire careers somewhere usually end up seeing a lot of coaches.

The latter. The average lifespan of an NHL coach with the same team is not long.

Giroux's no coach-killer -- hell, I'd argue that he saved Chief's job the first year and Hakstol's job last year, was clearly the biggest reason they beat the Pens in the playoffs in 2012 for Laviolette. Not single-handedly, obviously, but he was a focal point

Still feel bad for the guy. Right before the holidays too. I'm sure he'll go back to college or juniors where I think his skills as a player developer will be better utilized

Giroux is a great captain....and I don't say that lightly. The guy gives it his all. If guys want to blame this organizations regression over the last 6-7 years on something it shouldn't start with Giroux. That's just total nonsense.

Giroux is one of the best players in the history of this franchise. If you aren't aware of where he stands, in terms of statistics and scoring, you should probably do a google or two.

Don't @ me.

a bit ya....the one guy wanted to keep changing the subject away from the Flyers...but Ek kept leading them back....Ek says that Lyon being sent to the minors because he's in a deal for another goalie that is coming to Philly but not in time for Tuesdays game.... Don't know if it's true, but the (frank)er will have me checking back here for the next 48 hrs...

During the third period of the Vancouver broadcast they were just showing him looking down on the bench super depressed/disappointed. The guy cares as much as anyone associated with this team.

Riddle me this, Scoobman...if Seinfeld was so great, how come he never had his picture of a bubble gum card?
