Diamond Dave Isaac apparently does.
- Feanor

Yes. Dave Isaac also has it on good authority that Dave Hakstol was fired around 3PM yesterday.

Even among experienced writers, a wave of doubt can go through your mind: What if your ducks really aren't in a row? What if it boomerangs on you? On the flip side, what if you hold off, someone beats you it? There's always been a race to "be first" with a big story because so much of professional reputation and upward mobility rides on it. Even though this is often a matter of luck and a difference of a few minutes to hours, the first one to report it usually gets the credit, the most clicks/reads and the other things your bosses care first and foremost about. But you'd better time it just right.

Imho, being right is more important than being first.

The "gotta be first" mentality that has infected media is the reason a lot of folks dislike the media.

I think they're interrupting a player who just recently got on a roll and that can set him back a little. I don't think they're jeopardizing the future for Hart.
- MJL

Heard of Justin Pogge? Was claimed to be the next Brodeur by most people in hockey. Was amazing for Canada at the WJC's just like Hart. Leafs called him up to early when they were a bad team lost 7 or 8 to nothing with him in net and shattered the kids confidence and they ruined him due to not waiting like you are supposed to with a goalies development. Not saying that can happen with Hart but it might the way this team is playing right now.

The main roster has almost exactly the same mix as last year's 98 point team.
- Feanor

Provy, Ghost, Coots, Jake, G all had career years if I remember right. (No that isn't some backhanded insult of Coots so no need to load up highend fancy stats saying he is a Maia HA)

If you look outside those career seasons over the past 4 years this team has struggled.

Exactly my point, the next couple of games for Hart if they go badly could determine his future as an NHLer, scary stuff. I hope the Flyers made the right decision here and the kid is ready but he very well may not be.

I blame Hak you don't play a goalie with the injury history he has in a back to back especially since this team was losing that game with or without him in the crease. Bad goalie management once again.

I really really hope that Fletcher tells him that this is not expected to be permanent, and that they just want to let him see what it's like so he's full prepared.

Okay, and after we fire him, our immediate and/or long-term plan to replace him is....?
- jmatchett383

Benoit groulx, yeo, knoblouch, Q, Gordon, jmatchett.
I would rather try anything different that continue the same thing with the same results.

In fairness, the dog did ask him to pull Lindblom off of the 4th line.

That's not how corporations work, at least not successful ones. You don't just go, "Fire this guy and try someone else and see how that goes" and expect to have long-term success.

Lets be honest..

The dog was not executing all it's dog things correctly so it deserves some the blame for being kicked.

We just see things different.

I took the firing as Hextall had taken the team hostage and wasn't flexible. Not that Holmgren or Scott needed to be there with him making moves or on the phone. but you can't keep them completely in the dark while your current team is floundering.

- J35Bacher

I don't even know what taking the team hostage means. He was the GM. If that means that Hextall was going to do things his way and not Holmgren's way, then yea, I think that's right.

The Flyers must be idiots, you have the dude running their Twitter account tweeting out pictures of Carter Hart's stall in the dressing room. What the (frank) are you guys doing, just put more pressure on the kid. This is going to turn out bad I just have a feeling.

Hart is coming into a wonderful situation With a coach that will know exactly the right buttons to push. This coach has been a goalie whisperer of sorts. Seemingly striking the perfect balance on managing their rotations.

I look forward to the continued success instilled in the team that’s been on display night in and night out and no doubt it will rub off on hart

A move to get some meaningless winzzz and get fans excited. Fans cheering for Hart and focused on that.

He’s nothing more than a marketing puppet at this point.

- flyer_nutter

When the boos start, the television announcers: They're not booing Hart. It's not his fault. They're booing the season.
