Does anyone think that this circus could actually drive Coach Q away? Like, if he was considering it, could this be the kind of sideshow that makes him reconsider? - jmatchett383

I would argue that if one game can ruin a goalie, then he didn't have the mental makeup to be a good NHL goalie. - MJL
Because I think Hart does have the mental make up of a NHL goaltender, this at worst will be a severe setback.
No, this angers me toward Flyers management. There better be a heck of a lot going on here that isn’t being said. Otherwise, they are too dumb to ever stop shooting themselves in the bum with their goaltending drama!

Just a mess. I understand the Carter Hart move because it aligns with looking at in house options but with this circus and the negativity around this team, its not the time to give him his opportunity. Throwing him to the wolves. |

I don't agree with the call up but I'm not going to give credence that this could completely ruin his future. |

That's what I'm afraid of. Who wants leaks like this in media? Makes me think it's a Hextall loyalist who would leak something like this. But that just seems stupid.. Even if you were a loyalist, who would want to hurt the team and organization like this.. What a sh*t show. |

Oh now we are throwing a 20 year old to the wolves. This is fantastic. Here kid, our d sucks and has complete mental breakdowns on the ice. So be ready to pull a groin muscle or worse your first twenty minutes. Good luck kid!!! |

In sticking with an earlier analogy, I’d like to say I am excited to see Aaron Nola pitch every game for the Phillies next year. If he is our best pitcher than he should start every game. - Shrike

Im surprised at the call up...but perhaps the coaching down there is pointing out he's the best they got. Obviously he wasn't going to get called up with Hextall as GM...Hextalls answer was to pick a guy off the waiver wire. Well Hex is gone and Fletches answer is to recall the "next man up". I guess we'll see if he starts....or comes in to start the second period after Nuevy gets shelled or trips coming off the ice and re-injures himself. |

Pitches used to play every 5 days and throw complete games.
Pitches nowadays play every 5 days and throw 6 innings, if that.
So honestly, going to by total in-game pitch count, and hoping that modern technology can only help a pitcher's health, a 3-4 man rotation should be possible. |

This organization never learns. Have not they seen what happened to Matt Murray in Pittsburgh? |

Right?
The guy only had 70+ games in the AHL over 2 seasons and 9 AHL playoff games before they let him play due to injuries to everyone else.
What were they thinking? |

from Bill's twitter: "Even Alex Lyon is recently back from his second injury of season and isn't in top form right now. Everyone else is on IR or, in oft-injured Neuvirth's case, has been on leave & hasn't practiced in days. Timing of Hart's callup is... well, far from ideal... but not many options." |

It does feel like this is some last ditch effort to try and save the season with the Hart call up.
I've only see Carter Hart play live once, so I won't get into the "is he or isn't he ready " debate.
Just hope the team steps up and plays hard for him. Not getting my hopes up. |

I'm not disagreeing, but Murray was a lot more seasoned. |

Just saying maybe we don't all have to think the worst about this. They are in a bad situation with goalies right now and he's their best, healthiest, option. |

That's why I said "right or wrong." It's (probably) not the Flyers' fault this happened, but it did. - jmatchett383
well it sounds like someone within the Flyers organization leaked this so they are also at fault. I don't think Dave deserves to be fired for this, however, his silence since really doesn't look good. He should make some sort of statement. it is crazy how nothing ever seemed to leak out with Hextall and Fletcher is here 2 weeks and this happens. I do wonder whoever was the one(s) who leaked this ends up losing their job.
Over the last few years with the Fiasco the Sixers went thru between twittergate, player injuries, etc and the Eagles with Chip I've said a few times I was so glad it wasn't the flyers. Welp, they look like amateurs now between how the Hextall firing press conference looked and now this. |
