In this case, Berglund can't be considered a worker. A worker, shows up to work. Even just walks through the door.
In just about ANY labor contract (or at will employer) walking off the job is defined as quitting.
Putting him in breach. Often, circumstances, at that point don't matter.
Especially if it were a failure on the part of the player to do something to prevent the situation.
Sure the Blues could help, but, why should they? They already gave him a limited no trade clause. They have to manage HIS responsibility too?
I understand it stinks, but I think the Sabres are showing a GREAT deal of patience given they could just cut him. This IS working with the employee trying to find the best situation.
Also to be considered, look at how the organization dealt with Lehner last year and his issues. Given past history, even according to the employee in a self-written article, I tend to side with them.
Side Note beady: If you haven't read that article it's worth the read. Lehner talks directly about his demons and how the organization helped. It was pretty cool. - gcomella34

What is the matter with you? - RhinoFan its the truth. Jack hasnt elevated anyones play since he got here. This team changed when skinner came aboard. If Skinners not signed we will go backwards.

Skinner is on pace for his best season ever.
Jack would seem to be the reason why, no?
Did you see the assists on Skinner's goals on Sunday? |

tampa gets money to sign Point
they would probably take a contract for cap that expires this season and a first rd pick IMO to make it happen |

he did little when on the second line
all three of them play their best hockey together
all three of them can play 22 minutes if needed
it's a broken record that needs to go away, it's the best line we have had in 40 seasons |

I take your comment and want to dissect it. The NHL is a team game, no individual will take his team to the next level by himself. Sure for a single game, a player could rise late in the game and help his team win.
2017-18 Maple Leafs (made playoffs, lost in 1st round)
Marner 69 points
Matthews 63 points (in 62 games)
Nylander 61 points
Kadri 55 points
Van Riemsdyk 54 points
2017-18 Oilers (missed playoffs)
McDavid 108 points
Draisaitl 70 points
Nugent-Hopkins 48 points
Strome 34 points
2017-18 Jets (far into playoffs)
Wheeler 91 points
Laine 70 points
Ehlers 60 points
Scheifele 60 points (in 60 games)
Conner 57 points
2017-18 Sabres (last place in league)
Eichel 64 points
ROR 61 points
Reinhart 50 points
Okposo 44 points
I guess the take away is, the only team to make the playoffs had a bit higher individual stats. Do you want a winning team or a single player with high potential?
Matthews can take over a play, but I don't think he can take over a game. He has always had better line mates than jack. Now Matthews has Tavares another top end center and great wingers to help tally points.
Laine has an amazing shot. He plays 2nd - 3rd line with great center and a better all around team. He has great players setting him up. Don't see many highlights of him taking it around 3-4 players and scoring a great goal, most of the time it is just hit shot (which is elite).
McDavid has blazing speed and play making ability. Is not great at back checking and has a great second player to help him on his team (Draistl).
Eichel is only good this year because he has a guy that can finish? But all the guys above have already had that for years and they are better? The best part is we get to watch these guys compete for years to determine who is the best.
Can't wait to see the contracts that Laine and Matthews get, and then we can use that in the category of who is the best "deal".
Matthews should want $13+. Laine should want $11+. Will be interesting. - Lilroot9
Nice dissection. I enjoyed it. I guess we'll find out next season if Skinners not signed.
