To me, the big consideration here is what happens with Berglungd's contract.
I know Pommer and Moylson come off this season, and Sobotka and Bogo the following ... but being able to unexpectantly dump $3.85 for 3-1/2 seasons in virtual dead money is big. - IonSabres
It’s too bad that not even half the season has gone by & we are at this point with Berglund
It’s no secret i never liked him coming here as part of the trade
Didn’t make sense then
And has worked out even worse than i thought
Hopefully this works out where we are able to just dump him somehow & get that $$$ off the books |

Game not season. The point is Jack doesn't elevate his teammates, never has, never will. He's a follower not a leader. If we dont sign Skinner next year we will digress. - MLew65

I am pretty sure Phil and Jason are talking about splitting up the hottest line in the NHL to appease a few Reinhart haters on hockeybuzz - homiedclown
Jbotts and phil come in here when sam disappears for weeks. They look for answers.

Missing training camp hurt him - jcragcrumple
It usually does.
Hold outs in the NFL are more well documented as they occur more frequently, but if you look across most sports there is a trend towards slow starts in these instances. |

You mentioned it in a previous post, I think all the hate comes from one thing, Sam was drafted #2 and typically that is a great player.. IMO over the past 4 years watching Sam play, I feel he is a very solid player who can make all the passes, all the shots, a little on the slow side but adequate speed, but needs to be around better players. And he may have been a center in the OHL but in the NHL his skill set is better as a winger.
Sam on Jacks Line with Skinner he may put up 75pts, Sam centering a 2nd line he may put of 55 pts. Just my take... - hehateme
Definitely. But....respectfully
If you only lose 20 points off of Sam's totals to play 2c,
75 points to 55 points .Sabres should do that.
Move pommer up, get that 20 points instead of 0 points. Maybe even in 10- 12 games.
I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe sam could put up 55 at center. Not hating, just an opinion.

i think the sam at center thing has been put to bed. it didn't work out and he shouldn't be put there again unless it is an emergency |

I think the issue is more or less that the 1st and 4th lines are both working really well together, so you don't want to disrupt that. That only leaves you 6 guys to shuffle around to try and get the 2nd and 3rd line rolling. Not a whole lot of combos to work with there. And I feel like they've moved them all around enough to generate something and nothing has changed.

Yes. Casey's second most common line combo is him, Okposo and Tage.
Tage - Mitts - Reinhart
It will happen eventually, I actually think this could work. |

Probably doesn't bother you that Sam didn't report to play in the nhl on time, and wanted more $?

LOL
There were a bunch of articles written after Dez's hold out. I believe he was injured shortly after returning.
It isn't fool proof, but there is a pattern to observe. |

I think the hate on Reinhart is solely based on the predraft reports about him and how it hasn't translated to the NHL. Here's just a few from before the draft:
"Sam Reinhart is in the race for the first overall spot in the 2014 NHL Draft. He's one of a couple of elite level forwards who will be battling it out in the top five spots of the draft. Reinhart is the complete player. He is as dangerous defensively as he is offensively and he has the all around game that will potentially make him a top line center in the NHL. He has top end hockey IQ and knows where he has to be defensively and offensively."
"Reinhart is a nice blend of poise, maturity and a high hockey IQ. He's got creative hands, excellent vision and superb instinct in the offensive end. He's able to slow things down and dissect the play. He battles hard and is a true team leader."
"An elite talent who is battling to be the 1st overall selection, Reinhart has improved each year in the WHL, recording 105 points this season. He's a premier set-up center who can also play the wing when needed. A great face-off man, Reinhart shows maturity with the puck well beyond his years. He controls the pace of the game and makes it easy to get by defensemen with his quick hands and dynamic skating."
"Reinhart has excellent hockey sense and vision. He seems to know where the puck is going before it gets there and finds the openings in the defence. He has excellent stickhandling and puck protection skills, which when coupled with his good vision and passing make him an excellent playmaker. Reinhart is one of those special types of centres who has the ability to make his linemates better."
It's hard to fault him in being overhyped. In four years at Kootenay he was outscored by Max Reinhart his first year, barely outscored Jaedon Descheneau the next two seasons and outscored the final season by Descheneau and Luke Philip (he played less games and probably would have passed them through.)
He does excel with Eichel and seems to be the best spot for him. Until he either gets chemistry with one of our other players or bring someone in he can succeed with, he should stay on the top line. |

Let us try an exercise:
Think of a number 1-100, to represent the value I give your opinion.
Now subtract that number from itself. What is your final answer?
Exercise complete.
