The thing with matthews is that if he doesn’t score a goal, you have to check the roster sheet to even know he played. However, it’s not often when matthews isn’t scoring goals. Eichel dominates games whether he gets on the scoresheet or not. Only Gaudreau and McDavid has had more time with the puck on their stick in the offensive zone then Eichel this year. Eichel is top 3 in the league in shots on goal. When Eichel only had 5 goals in the 25 games he had 27 assists to make up for it. Eichel has 26 points in his last 16 games with Sam Reinhart and Jeff skinner. How much more damage do you think Eichel could do with a supporting cast of Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Kapanen ? Eichel is the only player in the top 20 in scoring that doesn’t have another one of his teammates in the top 20. You like Matthews, I’ll take Eichel 7 times out of 10.

To laugh hysterically of the thought that Eichel is better then matthews just proves you don’t watch any Leaf games at all. I watch more Leaf games then Sabre games due to where I live. Matthews might be marginally better at best.

This is what I have been saying, Sabres are in desperate need of a Play making number 2 center.. i would gladly give up 1 or 2 of the number 1 picks we have and prospects if we could get a legit #2 center... Mitts will be good but he is Rooking and on the smaller side. Could you imagine if we had a #2 center of say...Sean Couturier, good money and term....
